Life & Work with Sasha D’Nise

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sasha D’Nise. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Sasha D’Nise is a minority woman born and raised in a small town in Toledo, Ohio. Despite growing up in her hometown, where it lacked motivation to be successful, Sasha beat the odds. Since a child, she starred in musical stage plays and song solos at her church starting at the age of five years old, and continued to have a strong keen for music thereafter; participating in theater, and choir well into her high school years. She also had a very high interest in helping people, and would secretly create benefit concerts utilizing her talents to raise money, and donate it to a charity of some sort. Sasha has continued to display her love for music and helping people well into her adult years where she now owns an organization called Helping Hands of Ohio since 2017. She has served so much throughout her community with assisting those with mental and physical disabilities & has employed so many minorities and helped others start their own organizations that were inspired by her movement.

In 2020, Sasha also has branded her name, “SD – Sasha D’Nise LLC.” & started her publishing company called “Vannah Mae Publishing” named after her daughter Savannah. During Covid, she discovered her love for vocal production and writing has increased & has expanded her musical catalog. In 2021 she released her first live audio and visual project currently available on all streaming platforms. Sasha is currently in the Atlanta area participating in major projects and movies that will soon be released to the world! In the meantime, she continues to service her community, as she is currently in the process of creating a new music therapy program for youth and young adults in her hometown and hoping to bring the same program in the Atlanta area where she plans to officially reside in the near future. Sasha plans to release her full project soon, as she continues to grow her fan base & booking gig in the Atlanta area. Check out her website at www.SashaDnise.com. Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Growing up, I was extremely shy. My insecurities of not being model sized, has always gave me doubt, because for a very long time, I believed I had to look a certain way in order to fully be successful in music. I now believe that I covered my insecurities by making other people feel better, always willing and wanting to help people, because I honestly needed that help for myself. But giving back always made me feel better as a person. It was a balance. I’m glad my coping mechanism, or trauma response was something positive and not drugs or alcohol.

As an adult, I have been diagnosed with some mental health challenges that I did not realize I always had. Accepting and learning this has educated me on the issues on so many others who has not been diagnosed or treated due to the lack of not knowing that their is even an issue. This is why I am continuing my service in the community and creating a music therapy program for our talented youth. I also discovered the need for woman in support as I am also currently working on a non-profit organization called WAP, which stands for “Women With A Purpose” that I am extremely excited about. I believe God is allowing me to use my passion for my purpose.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a singer, song writer, vocal producer, actress, and entrepreneur. Singing has always been my number one passion; to create a beautiful sound and make people feel good while listening. For many years I wrote songs that focus on so much on heartbreak & hurt, and it came so natural due to mental trauma I lived through. Once I discovered my own mental health status, the type of music I wrote changed. My first song i released after I learned the importance of self love, was called “Soul Glow” I flew to L.A, California, shot the video and for the first time I felt aware of my assignment on this earth. The writing and the creation of this song and video is something I am most proud of, with the help of my producer and engineer. Even till this day, I am still learning me, discovering things about myself that I didn’t realize before. I want to be as authentic and honest as possible to my audience.
