Today we’d like to introduce you to Hymn Logic.

Hymn, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I grew up in Cleveland, Ohio. I moved to my grandparent’s house at the age of three. My grandparents love music and would listen to Doowop all day, every day. Their favorite music artist was Nat King Cole. My grandparents had a white piano. I fell in love with it the first day I saw it. I would sit down at that piano for hours, creating Melodie’s I heard in my head. I first recorded in the studio at the age of 16. I’m a 90’s baby so I had influenced of the R&B of that time. But, my music sounds different because I fused the 40’s – early 2000s styles together. In 2019, I started my business which offers producing, songwriting, mixing/mastering, logo design, and photography. I moved to Conyers, Georgia September of 2019. Using my skills to produce, I started networking with many artists in the city. In March of 2020, I joined Sony Music / Wealth nation as an A&R. Six months later, I was promoted to Assistant Vice President of Brand Development for Sony Music / Wealth Nation. I also provide business consultations for all creatives. I am an artist myself and have released three singles. I am releasing my new single, “Kairos” in September.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it’s been a rollercoaster. I struggled for years with bumping my head because I didn’t have the knowledge I needed. I lost a lot of money trying to figure things out. It’s hard to be a music artist. Everybody sees the glamorous life, but you deal with it a lot. In the beginning, I had to make it through no one believing, bad performances, going broke, spending countless hours in the studio, losing my car, getting evicted, all of this to pursue my career.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a singer/rapper that fuses the sounds of trap, r&b, funk, pop, and rock. I am a master producer for multiple genres. My bests are in a world of their own. I am a musician that plays the keytar. I am most proud that I kept going and believed in myself when the closest people in my life didn’t. What sets me apart is my sound of music is different, my songwriting is unique, and my image is entirely me. Have you ever seen an artist sing and rap while playing a keytar?

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
God is first. I am nothing with God. My success is an extension of God’s grace. My favorite text is proverbs 3:5, 6: “trust in the Lord with all of your heart and lean not into your own understanding, in all thy ways acknowledge him and he will direct your path”. I believe if you put God first, everything else will follow.
