Hi Latara, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Hello! my name is Latara. Everyone calls me Lala. I’m 29 from Chicago. I love the entire beauty industry. I’ve been doing hair and makeup since 2014. Just recently moved to ATL to fulfill my dreams as a celebrity makeup artist. My cosmetic brand consists of lashes, homemade lipgloss and more. I love to travel, to cooking and of course shopping. I also teach makeup classes for the girlies who want to learn. I love everything about my career. Love teaching young girls how to be confident and that they can achieve anything just like I did.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I’ve struggled with being underpaid, overlooked and judged. These are also things that made me stronger and kinda what to expect in this business. I coulda quit so many years ago. But here I am! Motivated and inspiring others.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I remember the first time I watched a makeup tutorial on YouTube and couldn’t believe that women taught girls how to apply their makeup on the Internet! I was inspired ever since! I love doing all kinds of makeup for that matter. I specialize in special effects makeup so Halloween is definitely one of my favorite times of the year. I’m known for amazing eyebrows and blending flawless skin. I’m most proud of my makeup brand because it represents confidence and realness. Teaching other women how to do their makeup is a true gift and something I really love also helping another woman become a makeup artist.
