Life and work with Jaylawn AKA Ken Doll

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaylawn AKA Ken Doll.

Hi Jaylawn, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m Jalon Dukes known as Jaylawn to the world. My creative journey started out a bit different than others. During high school, I was very invested in academics. I managed to graduate with a 4.2 and planned to take my talents to Xavier University of Louisiana to become a doctor. Unfortunately, I had a few bumps in the road, which led me to taking time off of school. During this time off, I began to express myself creatively. I experimented with being a model, youtuber, rapper and I even launched a party planning business, PartyFyed. Truthfully, It was never my goal to invest in those things, I honestly owe it all to my guides, ancestors and the man upstairs.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been an easy path just for the simple fact that I took more time off from school than I expected to. Since I’ve been out of school, I’ve suffered from depression and imposter syndrome. I felt like I wasn’t making any progress or doing enough to create my empire. My mind has always been set on college since I could remember and when things don’t work the way you expect them to, it damages your ego. It makes you feel as if you aren’t capable of doing anything, but I’ve come to find out that it’s all in my head. Everything happens for a reason and it’s not our responsibility to find out what the reason is, we just have to go with the flow.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
PartyFyed consists of party planning, specializing in balloons. I LOVE planning parties, it gives me a blank canvas to express my creativity. The first party I’ve ever hosted was my graduation party and I loved how everything turned out. On the side, I dabble into modeling, rapping, and even being a youtuber! I would say becoming a model is my biggest achievement because of the insecurities I’ve had to overcome to feel comfortable in front of the camera. It’s been a long time coming from not being confident to being slightly cocky. Truthfully, I love being seen by the public eye. I’m not afraid to put myself out there and the lifestyle I’m chasing requires that.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
