Meet Sara Longsworth of Sara in the City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sara Longsworth.

Sara, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
In 2015, I needed a creative outlet. I worked a very corporate job and wanted to write and share my love of the city with others. I always heard people say things like, “Atlanta is boring” or “there’s nothing going on”, and I took it upon myself to start a blog to change their minds. For me, Atlanta is and was the city. I grew up in (very) small town Alabama and always knew I’d leave it as far behind as possible. I craved the food, the culture and the fast paced lifestyle. I’ve been here for 7 years now and I’m proud to call it home. I enjoy being able to write about it, Instagram and share my favorite, local places in the hopes that another person loves it, too. I adore this city, its restaurants, my neighborhood (Little 5 Points), the people and the ever-evolving landscape that is now my backyard.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has been such a great experience, but can be trying at times. Since, I do social media full time for work, I can get kind of lackadaisical when it comes to my own blogging. Lucky for me Instagram is quick, easy and I have a pro Instagram husband, Blake who always encourages me to create content!

We’d love to hear more about your business.
For my blog/Instagram, I try to do my best to give readers and followers a true sense of my person. I share places that I love to go, and enjoy taking them along for the ride. Travel is a big pursuit of mine and I have started sharing those special moments, Q&A’s and recommendations with my readers. I’m most proud of the fact that my Instagram portrays me accurately and also, that I have come away with so many great friendships through social media networking. Every friend that I have in Atlanta that didn’t move here post college, I have met through social media! Crazy! I think that I show a wide range through my mediums. I cover restaurants, bars, outfits, art, my home, travel and more. It’s whatever I feel like posting and I like that it feels authentic.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I think it’s a great place for bloggers and Instagrammers to thrive. The content is endless; you just have to get out and explore. Atlanta is a good sized city with multiple neighborhoods and vibes to explore! It’s a great city to launch into a creative venture.
