Today we’d like to introduce you to Kim Walker.
Hi Kim, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I began my career in travel in 2018. With a business degree and corporate America background, I knew the potential in the travel industry; was a great fit for me. Initially, I started my business under a host agency. I now own my own agency, Simply Ready Travel LLC. I book and consult on travel for individuals and groups. My goal is to help people explore the beautiful world we live in.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Honestly, it has been a smooth road. Travel is definitely a career you have to be “all in” to succeed. I attribute the smooth road to great mentors, willingness to learn, and a background in business; has helped with my success.
We’ve been impressed with Simply Ready Travel LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Simply Ready Travel LLC is focused on client needs first. It is exciting to serve clients who have never traveled, barely traveled, or travel frequently. I learn from each type of traveler, which helps me continously improve my business. Group travel is a big part of my business. I coordinate family, organization, and private group travel. Consultation is provided to each group to ensure I determine needs such as accessibility, transportation, excursions, events, etc. A big part of my business is based on referrals from my wonderful clients. They share my passion for excellent customer service with others. Our slogan is “To Live Life, You Just Have To Be Simply Ready”. There are many avenues to book travel. However, my knowledge and service is a unique benefits clients love.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
In the travel industry, you need a mentor. There are some things training manuals just can’t teach. I recommend seeking a mentor who actuallly books travel. So, you can see the business “Live”. Be ready to take notes and show your willingness to learn. Having more than one mentor is a smart decision as well. There are many aspects to the travel industry. Taking advantage of various mentor will help you discover your niche and strategy.
