Today we’d like to introduce you to Lakeesha Lawrence.
Lakeesha, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I really truly started doing hair when I was in the 4th grade and my mom did not get up to do my hair for the 1st day of school..lol I knew then that would not work for me.
Has it been a smooth road?
No, building your brand takes a lot of dedication and faith. In Atlanta, there is a hair stylist on every corner so you have to work twice as hard to get known and build your clientele
What is the most difficult part of what you do?
I think what’s probably easy to so many people seems to be the hardest thing for me is taking pictures of my work and posting on social media. I usually forget or I’m really busy which is no excuse for not doing it.I know this day and time social media is everything so this is something hopefully I will grow to make easy.
What are you striving for, what criteria or markers have you set as indicators of success?
For me, success is defined by what the person is trying to accomplish and if they meet their own criteria for whatever it was they were set out to do, whether they get recognition via finances, fame or personal goal in their area and they began to succeed in it. I look out for goal setting, growth, and persistence to succeed for success.
What are your plans for the future?
I look forward to becoming an educator in healthy hair as well as opening my own salon .I look forward as well to opening a church where hope and faith will be our basis. I want to work more with our youth and community service groups for empowerment and leadership.
