Meet Rosie Falconi of Falconi Designs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rosie Falconi.

Rosie, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was extremely awkward and shy as a kid and didn’t really fit in. Drawing and painting became a way for me to calm my mind and express myself. I loved creating art and decided to pursue a Commercial Art degree after high school.

I started my mural business 15 years ago when my sister in law asked if I would paint my newborn nephew a mural. I’d never painted a mural before and felt a little overwhelmed by the scope of the project. But, I accepted the challenge and painted a mural that wrapped around the whole room.

She showed it off to her friends and neighbors and I started getting calls to paint more murals. I thought, Hey, Maybe I can turn my passion into a business and make a living off this! I’d always wanted to work for myself and be in the driver’s seat of my own success so that’s when Falconi Designs was born.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I don’t think any business is ever easy. It takes a lot of dedication and perseverance to stay positive during periods when work slows down. My business really took a hit after the 2008 recession but it stays fairly steady now. It cycles up and down and I’ve learned to save during the good times to carry me through the slower times.

I’m fortunate that I do most of my work on referrals and have several clients I’ve worked with for years. I must be doing something right because they keep recommending me to their friends and colleagues!

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Falconi Designs – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Falconi Designs specializes in painting custom murals. If you have a blank wall or walls that need some spicing up then that’s where I come in. I work with the client to bring their visions to life. No project is too small or too big. I’ve painted hundreds of murals in the last 15 years. I love painting kid spaces and seeing their eyes light up when they see their rooms transformed.

I’ve painted nurseries, playrooms, bedrooms, Pediatric offices, churches, schools and daycares. Lately, I’ve been getting lots of requests from various businesses to paint their logos and mission statements on the wall. But, I can also paint custom pieces on canvas. I’ve painted a fair amount of pet portraits and I also donate my artwork to help raise funds for various farm animal sanctuaries.

There’s a saying that goes, “Do what you love and you’ll never work a day in your life.” I think that’s what sets me apart from others. I’m passionate about this work. I love what I do and I think my clients can feel the energy I bring to their projects. I feel so grateful.
