Check Out BugMeat’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to BugMeat. Them and their team share their story with us below:

BugMeat was established in 2021 by Ryan and Katie’s mutual admiration and desire to collaborate. They met via Instagram. The duo’s melodic vision is enriched by frequent creative partners Juan Stevenson and Steffan Rost. Bugmeat hopes to entertain and inspire others- to collaborate with friends, to lean into what you love, and to express yourself. Has two EPs, available on all streaming platforms. BugMeat is currently in the process of writing an album and hopes to tour and play shows outside of Savannah GA!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
SCHEDULING! We all have full-time jobs, school, other musical projects, a child, and the everyday happenings of life. So making time and keeping the momentum going for the project can be a challenge.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are an alternative rock band specializing in making music with dreamy guitar licks, sing-song harmonies, and rhythmic balance. Influenced by post-punk, shoe-gaze, alt. rock, bedroom pop, and hardcore. Some listeners have said we make “main character” music.

We are proud of the success of our first year – writing, recording, mixing, mastering, and producing 2 Original EPs, “Bug’s Life” and “Lovesick” and playing 22 live shows (one out-of-state show!)

What sets us apart from others are Katie, Ryan, Juan, and Steffan’s musical backgrounds. Although each has a different point of view, they collaborate to cultivate the sounds of BugMeat.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Our parents for birthing, raising, and supporting us! The Savannah music scene! Composed of amazing bands and all the homies. Bookers, Anna Kellam, Graveface, Coastal Rock, Dog Days, SluiceFest. Venues PorchBand, El Rocko, Lodge of Sorrows, Big Blue. John Golden for making us look cool. Leanne Renee for capturing our essence. Alex Chamberlin for capturing the vision. THE PEOPLE WHO LISTEN TO OUR MUSIC! Without everyone’s support, we wouldn’t be able to share what we create with others!
