Daily Inspiration: Meet Cameron Johnson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cameron Johnson.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I grew up abused, tossed to the side and overlooked. I felt like my life had no purpose. So much so that I almost took my life at the age of 15. Then I found Jesus and my life changed forever. I made it my life’s mission to be a light to people in the same way I wished someone would be a light to me. I want people to learn that You can still make a difference despite the things you’ve been through in your past. You still have a purpose even in your brokenness. Even a broken crayon still colors.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I would say one of my biggest obstacles was navigating how to build a platform on social media. It seems like it took forever for me to even crack 200 views on my video. However, I never gave up! I stayed faithful to the process and here I am two years later with over 700 thousand followers on TikTok. Because I was determined to find success in the world of social media, my obstacles became my accomplishments.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I could brag about social media all day but what I’m most proud of is my inner-city mission work in the city of Atlanta. I’m a full-time urban missionary with a nonprofit called city takers. City takers give me an opportunity to do a lot of special things. For example, I lead mission teams from all over the country in outreaches across the city of Atlanta. We do everything from homeless ministry to serving at food banks. The goal is to teach people you don’t have to go overseas to make a difference. There are people you walk by every day that need a helping hand. Are you willing to extend yours? I also lead an after-school program for at-risk youth on the west side of Atlanta. We use sports, music, and financial literacy as tools to show students there is more in store for their lives if they work hard. We are raising up young men and women to be world changers! I’m so honored that this is the life I lead.

What does success mean to you?
Success to me is a person walking fully in the purpose that God has placed on their lives. Success can’t be measured by the money you make or the power you hold. However, I believe success is found in true contentment. If I went by the world’s standards of what success looks like I wouldn’t be making the difference I am right now in the lives of the people around me.
