Conversations with J.J. Shegog

Today we’d like to introduce you to J.J. Shegog.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started Jair’s Collections publishing company for two very distinct reasons. To help families/children and give my own son a head start in life. All too often, we become engulfed with life, its stressors and just keeping a float that we do not have the luxury of creating something that can simultaneously help others and our loved ones. I have a firm belief that whatever you are meant to do, it will not just benefit you. That’s not the way nature is set up and whatever brings you joy can somehow help others. This is why I started writing books- to bring unique ideas and perspectives to families that have the potential to create better family relationships and experiences.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road. And for probably a very different reason then most people would think. I found that my career as a publisher and writer was taking off much faster than I realized and was prepared for. I knew I had something to say, but I had no idea so many people wanted to hear it. My 2022 was spent on a personal journey of self-redefining. Before I let the world in, I realized I didn’t fully understand and know myself. I decided to do something many wouldn’t do or understand, take a step back. I’m not a stranger to hard work, creating ideas and being consistent; however, I needed to get my personal foundation in order before working on the walls and roof.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I think what sets me apart from other authors, publishers and content creators in general is that I do not care about selling books. That doesn’t motivate me. I’m motivated by notion and idea of changing lives and family structures. I tend to focus more on my books being visible to the people who actually would benefit from them in mindset alone than its reach. I think of myself as a matchmaker with my books and writings. I have no interest in matching people who aren’t compatible just to say I set this number of people up, but I look at the quality of the people who this book would resonate and mostly likely align with. Those are the people I would be honored to read my work and writings.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I have my 1st adult novel in the works and am gearing up to start releasing a weekly or monthly writings and articles that center around family, relationships, and changing our habits to change ourselves. I’m super excited about this opportunity. Stay connected to receive these updates and release dates.
