Today we’d like to introduce you to Georgia McClintock.
Hi Georgia, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I come from a strong musical family. Everyone played the guitar, piano, and sang. As a sophomore in high school, one of my teachers, Ms. Caulder, asked me, “What do you want to become when you grow up?” That was a very good question. I did not know the answer. I started dabbling into photography, nothing serious but was unsure. I remember going home that day with the same routine. I always turned the radio on. I was always told I had an amazing personality. I put the two together. “I think I want to be a radio personality.” It’s my love for music and my personality.
I had some amazing internships in my hometown. After a big management shift, it was time for me to become independent. I did not know what that meant as a 19-year-old, but I understand that decision as an adult.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road to owning my business, my brand, has not been easy. I had bumped into an inheritance that helped me fund a good portion of my business. I was so excited to finally apply for my federal trademark. I had no clue what I was doing. No one in my family had a federal trademark. After filing for the federal trademark, there was a multi-billion dollar organization that opposed my federal trademark. I was fighting to keep my brand. It was 9 months of harsh negotiating to come up with an agreement. This roadblock led to the name, Sophya D. I lost a lot of money with the first trademark. I re-filed for my trademark. I had an amazing Trademark Attorney, Matthew Howell. Attorney Howell educated me step by step. It feels good to own my brand.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
The Sophya D Network, LLC is a multimedia business. We specialize in photography, videography, and content creation for social media. The Sophya D Radio Show, LLC is a platform where small business owners can be interviewed to help promote their businesses. The Sophya D Radio Show, LLC is another resource for music artists to promote their album releases and live recordings.
I am most proud of the number of artists and business owners we interviewed in the last twelve years. Those artists and business owners are thriving. Our businesses, including my husband’s, TS Creations, are different. We are known in the community as the husband and wife dynamic duo. My husband is a wonderful photographer and videographer. Without TS Creations, there would be no Sophya D Radio Show. His business captures all of our radio show interviews.
What matters most to you?
Legacy is important right now. Our goal is to make sure that our content lasts a lifetime. We interviewed a husband-and-wife gospel rap group by the name of SSnLite in Atlanta. We hope that our content creation and interviews will lead people to God, laughter, and a smile. Life is short. We need to enjoy every moment.
