Inspiring Conversations with Joy Westinghouse of Eats With Joy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joy Westinghouse.

Hi Joy, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I moved to the Metro Atlanta area in October 2019 due to the category 5 Hurricane, “Hurricane Michael” hitting my hometown, Panama City, FL. The transition was pretty hard for me as it was the middle of my senior year and I left my friends and family that I had been with since birth. I may not be a very good cook but, I could always appreciate good food. I have always had a love for food. I decided to take this passion of mine further in December 2021 by creating Eats With Joy to help me explore Atlanta. Eats With Joy started out as a hobby to help me get out and enjoy the city that was fairly new to me. Eats With Joy is still rapidly growing and it is all due to consistency.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Anything worth having for sure takes time. As a full-time Behavior Technician and full-time undergrad student, I often feel like I do not have much time. Of course, I have time to eat because we all have to! But, filming, editing, posting, and interacting all seemed very overwhelming in the beginning. Once I began writing out my schedule and plans, it all became fairly easy to remain consistent.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
My business Eats With Joy offers reviews of restaurants and events. These reviews can currently be found on Instagram and TikTok @eatswjoy. I collaborate with restaurants and other businesses to assist with getting their business more exposure. The majority of these reviews take place in the Atlanta area however, I am always open to traveling and I do reviews when I am away traveling.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I have learned is to never be afraid. A lot of us do not progress due to our fear of rejection. Once you overcome that fear so many doors begin to open. Now, Eats With Joy is rapidly growing due to a lack of fear.
