Today we’d like to introduce you to Monnie Mondo.
Hi Monnie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My love for music started early. I was inspired at the age of three, so by the age of five, I started rapping. One day in high school me and a couple of old friends decided to go to the studio and I recorded my first song called “Gotta Have It” to see how It would sound. My peers were so hype about the record. The engineer told me, “Keep going. You’re gone be big one day.” This stuck with me. I knew from that point that I really had potential. In 2017, around the time of graduation I decided to take rapping more serious. I’ll never forget, one of my first shows was on the Souf Side of Atlanta. The energy was crazy. Soon after, I dropped my first tape, titled “PathWay Through Pain.” Little did I know, this was only the beginning.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road by any means. On the way up, you notice a lot changes. People you thought were solid really show their true colors. People like to only support behind closed doors until you make it. This makes the building process harder. The grind doesn’t stop though. There were times where I had to work two jobs to be able to pay for studio time and music videos. Having an understanding from the start that the road wouldn’t be easy really helped me keep going. You just have to stay down until you come up for real.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
When people say the name Monnie Mondo, the words that come to mind are humble, original, confident, trendy, athletic, and most importantly, REAL. I’m an artist and entertainer at heart. Although sometimes this industry will try to change you, I’ll always stay true to myself. I’m most proud of how far I’ve come and the fact that I have overcome every obstacle that causes most independent artists to quit in early stages. I’m here to show why they call me KING MONNIE MONDO.
