Today we’d like to introduce you to Dequan Starnes. They and their team shared their story with us below:
Dequan Starnes one of the most impactful hip-hop acts and music executives to come out of Monroe North Carolina. Raised around music he decided to pursue his musical talent with aspirations to be like Sean Puffy Combs and began to chase his dream.
At the early age of five, he was given a microphone by his grandmother and never looked back. Since then Starnes is the leader of two organizations one being a management firm titled Destined 4 Greatness Management where he helps facilitate the goals and aspirations of talent he signs as a representative of their careers.
Starnes also does tremendous work in the city with leading his second organization titled You’re Enough Foundation Inc. where they’ll bring community awareness to the importance of mental health wellness and provide resources to address mental health disparities and concerns.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When you’re walking in your purpose it certainly feels like it’s a smooth sailing journey because you’re doing something you love that feels fulfilling to you.
But it definitely has been some challenging moments with all honesty. The main struggle I think I’ve faced in building these brands is getting passed all the red tape and strict policies when bringing together partnerships. You will be amazed at how some companies don’t want to participate.
Unless of course, they can take full credit for something incredible you’re bringing together. Instead of co-partnering with us many times we end up leading and spear heading events with our own internal team.
With the assistance of a few volunteers.
As you know, we’re big fans of You’re Enough Foundation Inc. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Mission Statement:
To bring community awareness to the importance of mental health wellness and provide resources to address mental health disparities and concerns.
To coordinate a fun and educational community event collaborating with therapists, school guidance counselors, corporate sponsors and other support groups to provide long-term mental health assistance for those suffering from mental illness.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Seeing big smiles and creating joyful memories for people to make them forget about their stressful reality.
