Today we’d like to introduce you to Ruth Mbari.

Hi Ruth, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My entrepreneurial and single motherhood story began when I had my daughter 12 years ago, then had my son seven years later, when I found myself steering the ship alone, between working full time and going to school full time. This was unexpected and I was thrust into the role of being a single parent to two children. At first, I was unsure how I was going to be able to provide for my children, but I quickly got to work finding ways to make a living that fit in with my lifestyle and allowed me to also be present and available for my children. I was and still, I’m super determined to set great examples for my children. I graduated from Strayer University with MBA in HR & 4.0 GPA.

I had always had a love of business, so I started my own business selling products online. It was challenging at first, as I had no prior experience with running a business, but I worked hard to learn the skills I needed to succeed. Soon enough, I was able to grow the business and make enough money to cover the bills.

With my newfound confidence, I decided to look into even more business opportunities and I started my own consulting & coaching company. This time, I had more of an understanding of the legal and financial elements that come with running a business. With careful planning and perseverance, I was soon able to generate enough income from both my businesses to support my family.

Although I’ve encountered numerous challenges throughout my entrepreneurial & parenting journey, I’m proud to say that I have come out on top. My success has not only provided me with the financial stability to care for my children, but it has also provided me with a great sense of accomplishment that I would not have found anywhere else. My journey has been & will continue to be one of determination, perseverance, and above all else, hope.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The journey has certainly not been smooth sailing. One of the greatest struggles was dealing with self-doubt and finding the courage to take the next step. There have been countless moments of frustration when plans have gone wrong when roadblocks seemed insurmountable, and when it seemed like the journey would never end. At times, it felt like the only way out was to give up and let go, but I chose to persist and keep pushing. It has been an arduous journey, full of failures, missteps, and hardships. However, these struggles have also made me wiser and more resilient. With every step, I find myself growing and growing, making my way ever closer to where I want to be. But, I’m here now and looking back, it’s clear that the road was well-traveled, for the experience has shaped me into who I am today.
