Today we’d like to introduce you to Hanna Dean.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I am an established makeup artist in North West Georgia! After graduating from The University of Georgia in 2007, I moved back to my hometown of Calhoun and shortly after began my career. I have now been in business for 13 years and things just keep getting better! As a beauty professional, my goal is to ensure that each client feels their very best- but never because of actual makeup! I strive to bring out confidence by instilling that beauty comes from within! I carry multiple lines of makeup and skincare and just recently added some more fun retail! This past year I created my very own Hanna Dean Makeup lip line inspired by people, places and experiences who have impacted my life. I am so proud!
My business partner (a phenomenal photographer) and myself co-own a studio in downtown Calhoun called Baxter Dean. Over the years, we have poured tons of time, talent and creativity into the city of Calhoun. Aside from being very involved with our alma mater, Calhoun High School; we work closely with surrounding county schools and children! Andy (Baxter) and I just received a $15,000 grant from The Tennessee Valley Credit Union and we couldn’t be more excited! We were honored to be chosen from 300 small businesses being judged by our involvement in our community and what our business stands for. At Baxter Dean, we strive to give each customer an experience that will leave memories to last a lifetime!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
A smooth road? Ha! Does that even exist? I have absolutely had trials and struggles along the way! As a single mother of three active boys, balancing family and career can be very challenging. As women and mothers, we often feel as though we have to take care of everyone and everything all of the time! Sometimes I feel like my head is spinning!!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a certified, professional makeup artist and just recently certified in Brow Lamination, tinting and shaping. I do makeup for any and all occasions but the job I am most proud of is working with country superstar, Sara Evans. Over the years I have made her up for many photo shoots, Grand Ole Opry performances, interviews, the CMA awards and even went out on a run of her tour! We had a blast and she is a sweet friend.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love Atlanta and would love to gain more cliental from the city! Calhoun is only 50 miles straight up i75!
