Daily Inspiration: Meet Fred Anyona

Today we’d like to introduce you to Fred Anyona.

Fred Anyona

Fred, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started out my journey in content creation back in university, when I joined first year I wanted to find an outlet for my creativity. I always loved writing and fashion, and that’s when my blog So You Like Fashion began. We would take pictures on campus and I would post them on my WordPress and Blogger. I still remember my first campaign with Daniel Wellington, I was over the moon being among the first Africans getting a PR package for a global campaign. That changed into what I do today, content creation across all platforms: Instagram, TikTok and Pinterest. Where I continue to share my perspective and thoughts on fashion, style and lifestyle.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road per se. I have battled self-doubt, creative blocks, writer’s block, anxiety to post as well, constant comparison and even embarrassment and shame. But the rewards have also been bigger and impactful. It is something I am passionate about and I enjoy doing regardless of all the bumps along the way.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I think the creative element in content creation is a dynamic one. Ever changing, ever-growing, ever-learning. I learn and emulate a lot of what is already out there. We are lucky to live in an age where we have information readily available to us. I want to share that as well through webinars and sessions at some point (not today though, lol) I still have a lot of learning to do. I have always been really good at taking pictures of others and of myself. I am proud that I take a lot of my content by myself; I am slowly learning to let others test out their skills on me. Being a digital marketing specialist as well, I get to understand the specifics that also help a product or service sell, and I apply that in my content creation.

I am known for a clean aesthetic with warm tones and great sense of style, if I may so myself, haha.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I think a lot of people still don’t believe I take my photos by myself and I am also very quick with it. I am in and out in 10-15 minutes. Unless it’s a big project/brand work, I am still quick with it, I have learnt to know and understand what works for me and what doesn’t throughout the years
