Today we’d like to introduce you to Nikkia Washington.

Hi Nikkia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Unplanned Perfection is a platform I created to demonstrate that there is hope beyond life’s unplanned moments. It was birthed through my own story of experiencing moment after moment of life not turning out the way I thought it would. After initially being stuck in the disappointment, I began to accept where life had brought me. The irony was that perfection isn’t this mystical place or goal, but it’s right where we stand today. There is perfection in every single part of our journey if we surrender to it. My healing started then. I began sharing this process of healing and moving forward through faith.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The biggest struggle has always been in acceptance and fear. Accepting where I was and the fear of what that meant for me. The rocks in my road include divorce and single parenthood, to name a few. But I don’t know anyone who has had a completely smooth path. Learning to lean into fear, and accept my journey fully, has been the difference maker.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I share my journey of womanhood, single motherhood, and faith on my platform. But I am also a published author, master’s level behavioral analysis, and children’s/family stylist. The thing I’m most proud of is my faith. It’s the central rock that allows me to pursue my passions, get up when I fall, and keep going no matter where I land.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Just do it. Whatever it is. Don’t count yourself out before you start. Everything you need is already within; God is just waiting on us to trust him enough to begin.
