Meet James Anthony of James Anthony Photography in Roswell

Today we’d like to introduce you to James Anthony.

James, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started photography in college and from there got an internship for a semester at VIBE magazine in NYC. After graduation, I got several 9-5’s after realizing the corporate structure was not for me and parted ways.

I started to market and promote myself like my life depended on it. Networking became my favorite past time. After grinding and growing my business via word of mouth, I ended up getting bigger and bigger clients and gigs.

I’ve now been shooting for 13 years and photography has allowed me to travel to the world and meet some of my lifelong influencers and favorite entertainers.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has been an extremely arduous and tumultuous one. But, nothing I would trade it. Every hardship has made every victory that much sweeter.

Self-doubt is the biggest struggle of all. You can ignore or take into consideration what others tell you but it’s hard to get yourself out of your own head. Don’t doubt what you’re doing if you’re doing what you have been gifted with.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about James Anthony Photography – what should we know?
I am a photographer, director and illustrator. I have a lifelong background in acting but picked up photography later in life. I enjoy pretty much all avenues of artistic expression.

My next journey is to dive deeper into filmmaking and directing.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
I am the best problem solver I know. I feel in order to be a successful entrepreneur you must be a great problem solver. Thinking on your toes is key and keeping your composure is an added bonus.
