Hi D’Rhea, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.

I started my business through my excitement for traveling. I planned my first solo vacation during the pandemic and started planning trips with my friends and family. My passion for planning and doing extensive research on travel destinations became extremely interesting for me. Once I successfully planned my first vacation, it became addictive. Some family members and friends began to depend on me for planning the fun and accommodations for several of our trips after. My social media followers saw the trips I was taking solo and with my family and friends and became inspired. I later decided to make a career out of this passion. From that moment, I started building Asteria Travel and offering my services to everyone. I began to have a special interest in Jamaica as that was where I traveled for my first international solo adventure. After traveling there many times and meeting so many nice people, I wanted to share the experience with my clients, friends, family, and anyone else interested in traveling. This led me to join the Caribbean Tourism Organization, where I could get more educated on Caribbean travel as a whole. Now I am a Caribbean travel expert and have many connections with people throughout that help me curate the best travel experiences for my clients.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?

It has not been a smooth road as I have to continuously build trust in interested travelers and essentially show them that booking with me as an agent is a better experience than doing it themselves. I have been diligently building my social media by sharing travel experiences. Some of my struggles have included a lot of investment of time and money to build my brand.  And a lot of “no’s”. But because I’m so passionate about showing people these experiences, I have kept pushing along. I’ve gained the attention of influencer pages within the Caribbean such as @Portland876 and also businesses who want to work with me. Through this attention, the trust as continued to build with new clients and potential clients.
