Today we’d like to introduce you to Krissy Lewis.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Krissy. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I’ve always wanted to be a writer. I received my BA from Lehman College back in NY and have moved on to contribute to publications such as VIBE Magazine, The Royal Obsession/Natasha Morgan Eyewear and more. During that time, I also ran an underground music and arts blog, where I’d write biographies and articles on local artist.
When I moved to Atlanta, I made a promise to myself that I will dedicate my time (outside of my 9-5 where I work as a remote marketing manager) to building my blog and Krissy Lewis. I blog about beauty, style and inspiration as a way to show women how feeling good, looking good and doing good are connected. My motto is actually just that. “If you feel good and look good, you’ll do good.
I launched my blog November 2017 and have been building since. My ultimate goals are to build my blog as a space to make women feel good and become an international marketer in the beauty and style industry.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
“Nothing worth having is easy.”
My journey was everything but smooth. When I got to Atlanta, I felt alone, confused, lost and depressed. I was suffering emotionally to get back to who I was. I had lost relationships and move to a city where everything was unfamiliar.
Not to be cliche but adversity builds character. I focused on my blog, went out every weekend, joined organizations and built my following, I even had the opportunity to help curate a self-love and self-care event called the Soulcare Wellness Series created by Kenda Davis. I had a few rough months but even better experiences were created from that.
I’m grateful for both the struggle and the “glow up”.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I created Krissylewis.com as a way to inspire women to feel, look, and do their best. I discuss beauty, personal style and inspirational pieces that keeps me going. I learned that when you look and feel your best great things happen and if we had more resources to help us achieve that we’ all be moving towards being our best self.
So in short, Krissylewis.com inspires you to feel good, look good and do good, one article at a time. I also have a YouTube channel that emphasizes the same points.
Lastly, what’s sets me apart is who I am, what my perspective and story is.
What were you like growing up?
I think I went through phases, I liked to dance in high school. I was on the cheer leading and dance team, I originally wanted to be a Lawyer and I switched my major to pursue my passion for writing. Now, I’d say, I love helping people, writing, reading, doing yoga, meditating, journalling, going out and discovering nature.
One thing that has always been the same is my thirst for knowledge, I love learning new things and applying it to what I do.
