Check Out Maestro Robinson’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maestro Robinson.

Maestro Robinson

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My persistence is annoyingly stubborn, especially regarding my career endeavors. Sure, most creatives generally despise the word “no”. Our egos are sensitive. But as much as I duck and dodge that dreaded word, I’ve learned that even if I don’t get what I’m after at the time, my work ethic and lack of persistence won’t ever be the reason for it.

My career in entertainment started on the musical side. In many ways, what I learned by pursuing and ultimately conquering my goals as a session musician, immensely helped when I realized I wanted to be more than just a drummer. The gigs become less consistent, the tours of the past fade into nothing more than distant memories, and the employers (artists and their respective teams) evolve-almost always without the musicians they hired once upon a time.

I applied the same energy I was exerting as a sideman, to my own individual artistry; but with more force. I still have plenty of goals to meet, but a big part of my current success rests in the simple fact that no one can want me to be successful more than ME. It starts there, and I refuse to take “no” for an answer. That mindset was the beginning of Maestro Robinson the actor, viral content creator, personality, and musician.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road so far is comparable to a wild roller coaster ride! It’s been high, low, fast, slow, and everything in-between; but where there’s struggle, wisdom and experiences are often nearby.

Differentiating real friends, acquaintances, colleagues, and temporary employers is undoubtedly a major struggle. As creatives, wanting to become best friends with everyone we encounter in our line of work is inevitable. Sometimes we have to be brutally honest with ourselves and accept the fact that some people are put in our lives only for specific reasons and seasons.

Comparing the success of others with my own has been a struggle along the way as well. Even with a few wins under the belt, it’s easy to compare and contrast-especially when considering similarities like age, and talents. For me, developing a healthier, more accepting mindset has helped me with this struggle over the years.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a professional musician, content creator, and actor. I’ve toured with acts like Selena Gomez, and have appeared on camera in a variety of commercials, films, and corporate projects. Presently, in addition to earning as many acting credits as I can, my social media presence has been growing steadily as I post drum content, brand collaborations, and original sketches.

I’m most proud of one of my favorite qualities-doing what I put my mind to and finding beauty in the process of patience. It’s not easy, but it’s always worth it. There aren’t too many drummers with my experience, that are also passionate about opportunities in film and television.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
In my opinion, without risks, you can only depend on very few certainties we have access to…not to mention, life would be incredibly boring.

I have taken a few risks, yes. One of the main risks I took was moving to the other side of the country after high school graduation, to attend Berklee College Of Music in Boston, MA waving a temporary goodbye to the heart of the entertainment industry, my hometown of Los Angeles. But I knew that there was plenty for me to learn by going to the most prestigious music college in the world, and the risk proved my thought process true.
