Today we’d like to introduce you to Kazia Rosemond.

Kazia Rosemond

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My life is a story of creative passion, early ambition, and the power of community. Growing up in Nashville, Tennessee, in a family of creatives—my mother, a chef, and my father, an audio engineer—I learned the importance of following my heart and working hard. My family-owned breakfast restaurant, The Pfunky Griddle, was my first playground and classroom, imbuing me with a strong work ethic and a love for creative endeavors.

At just 16, I took a bold step to graduate high school early and start hair school, a decision that launched my decade-long journey in hairdressing. By 18, I was the first apprentice at Local Honey Nashville, quickly rising to become a top stylist and educator, where I found joy in training future hairdressers.

My adventure took a new turn in 2019 when I moved to East Atlanta. Since being here, I’ve worked as an independent stylist, which is rewarding, but I soon realized something was missing. I deeply missed the camaraderie and the opportunity to mentor and build up new hairdressers. The energy and inspiration that come from working with a team of passionate individuals were elements I yearned to bring back into my professional life.

This longing led to a life-changing conversation in 2022 with my mentor, Brian Hickman. Discussing my career aspirations, Brian presented an incredible opportunity: to open Local Honey in Atlanta as their Creative Director + Partner. It was a dream come true—a chance to rekindle my passion for mentoring and working within a vibrant team.

Now, as we gear up to open Local Honey ATL at 714 Moreland Ave SE, Atlanta GA 30316 this spring, I stand at the precipice of an exciting new chapter. This isn’t just about opening a salon; it’s about creating a community, a place where new hairdressers can grow and where a team of passionate humans can thrive together. It’s a continuation of my journey, one that started in a small Nashville restaurant and is now blossoming in Atlanta, driven by the same passion and support that has always been my guiding light.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not at all! After moving from Nashville to Atlanta in 2019 and beginning to totally rebuilding my clientele from scratch – well 2020 happened and I was left with no way to work for months. I hadn’t taken a break since 16 years old + I was terrified I wouldn’t ever be able to make it here and would need to find a “normal” job. Would people still come to the salon? Being a “new” but seasoned stylist during the time after lockdown ended up being a huge advantage as many hairdressers were beyond capacity when everything opened up + taking a break only reignited my passion for hair. That time gave me the space to truly appreciate the art + human connection that goes into hairdressing.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
