Today, we’d like to introduce you to Lisamarie Thomas.
Hi Lisamarie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My name is Lisamarie Thomas. I am a former sex trafficking victim and turned 29 years old in September 2023. Since becoming free in 2017, I have been determined to make something better for herself and her children. I started the company LISAMARIE THOMAS PUBLISHING LLC in 2019 and have published two novels and a three-book children’s series from July 2019 to December 2021.
Following, I started a second company; LMP Film Co that released a short film in 2023 that has achieved great success, winning 10 film festivals internationally, receiving nominations in over a dozen more, and being officially selected in 23 other film festivals. The film has been screened to over 100,000 viewers in less than 6 months of filming, which is an impressive feat considering the business started less than a year ago.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Developing a company through my art, was one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences of my life. Again, it was not easy. This was probably one of the most difficult tasks, just because of the time investment and the sacrifice.
A few years prior to my own circumstances, I did a great amount of helping people, forming businesses out of ideas, creating selling platforms, and structuring the arrival of new products. That experience made me realize, that the power of manifesting was real and the outcome, could be quite tangible.
Moving forward, I faced many obstacles after writing my first book. There were multiple agents, and literary agencies, alike that turned me down and for the same reason. They all gathered, that I had a wonderful story and it was well written but I was missing the most important thing.
I almost fell out of my seat, when I was told this ”impeccable” thing that I was missing. What was it? Oh, I’m sure you know by now. They all denied me because of my lack of clout. They all denied me because they needed too many resources to create a name and brand for me because I was nobody. They said.
That’s when I realized that I needed to know everything about my business. I needed to be confident in what I was building. No one should know my business better than me. So, I got to work.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
God’s Plan Pictures is an entertainment branch of the LMP (Lisamarie Publishing LLC) Empire. We have just started pre-production of our feature film, TURNED OUT THE MOVIE. Last year, after forming an independent film production company. We put together a small but highly dedicated crew to bring our first production to life, the 9-time award-winning short film, TURNED OUT THE PREQUEL.
One of my greatest accomplishments so far would have to be executive producing the film soundtracks. My great-uncle is Curtis Mayfield. My father co-wrote ‘New World Order’ and also sang the hook of ‘Just a Little Bit of Love’ in which my mom did a rap feature. My father was nominated to win a Grammy from ‘New World Order’ but unfortunately, they didn’t win. Still, I always saw this as a high accomplishment. One that I wanted to try and obtain.
As I grow older, I realize how powerful my role has been in my future. I had to realize that having faith is literally believing in myself and believing that I have a purpose in this world. That aha moment had taken me over a decade to realize. A few years ago, I would have felt that a setback was wasting my time and may have come from something that I wasn’t doing right.
The thing is when you really have faith and believe in YOUR OWN purpose. The obstacles that have to be tackled are similar to checkpoints, in a person’s journey of enlightenment. In order to grow, you have to gain self-awareness and the journey is meant to nurture that and mold the ego, this way each person’s work can be done on this earth. No matter how big or small.
Unfortunately, my parents didn’t make it as far in the industry as they wanted. The thing is, my whole mission is to change lives for the better by simply setting an example and maybe even, a standard. I feel that my full circle moment will come when I win the Grammy for my parents, while their still here to see it!
Incorporating live voiceovers from the cast, crew, myself, and parts of the film. As one of the first albums of its kind, it has been blocked and banned from distribution from Soundcloud. The company simply stated in a rejection email: ”We do not distribute audiobooks.” That was when I knew that, I had something valuable on my hands.
In reference to each film that enters production; each album would represent different stages of my growth in adolescence and adulthood, with “Turned Out: The Prequel” being the first and more emotional album, showcasing a closed-off yet hopeful and deeply spiritual side.
“When God Let Me Speak Part I” is a collective track list of songs that provide insight into the mindset of navigating my twenties, characterized by egotism and slight immaturity, much like many of us. The last album, “When God Let Me Speak Part II,” serves as a projection of my ultimate goal and where I soon aspire to be as a woman.

What are your plans for the future?
I want to teach people that anything is possible, as long as they are willing to put the time and effort in. Never give up, not because you’re tired or because someone else thinks that it’s best. Listen to yourself, is the advice that I believe makes me successful because I tell myself every day that the creator gave this vision to me, and it was somebody else’s. The message would not have been so potent.
I believe that we can reach everyone but we would focus on a few target areas such as black women and teens, disproportionate adults, high school dropouts, domestic violence victims, single mothers, millennials, those affected by the crack epidemic, children to addicted parents, and latchkey children. Through my terrible circumstances, many beautiful things were born and I am proud of that. Not taking any losses, only creating wins, I really think, or hope anyway, that the universe supports me in that!
Following the feature film will be a three-part short film series. These films will also be adaptations of my second novel’ WHEN GOD LET ME SPEAK. This production is aimed at helping young women and people in difficult situations through faith, hard work, and dedication. Subsequently, my record label, LMP Media Group is preparing to release three full-length soundtracks that will accompany each short film in the series.
Finally, towards 2026, we will be gearing up for the return of Turned Out, with the sequel.
