Today we’d like to introduce you to Charisse Sky.

Hi Charisse, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
Music is the core of my being, I started singing as a tiny little 3-year-old and it has carried me throughout my life to where I am today. It is my therapy, my safe space, my processing time.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It is never a smooth road as a black woman, let alone being one in the music industry. I am often told it’s not a “realistic” occupation, to quit, and to be okay with being controlled. None of that is an option for me.

I call myself the Heaven-sent Hellraiser because it is my duty to shed light and bring awareness to situations that have intentionally been left in the dark and swept under the rug, but that is one of my purposes here on Earth. Even with the multitude of obstacles (way too many to type out) that I face on a consistent basis, it is my job to keep going. I owe it to myself not to give up on myself.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am an independent singer, songwriter, producer, and entrepreneur. I am known for my passionate, vulnerable, and transformative music, and my ability to make people feel seen, understood, and valued. That, I am most proud of.

Being neurodivergent, the way I see, process and interact with the world is different than most people. While it has its own challenges I wouldn’t have it any other way and I look forward to helping those that come after me have an example of what’s possible, not being restricted by people’s ideologies of what someone is capable of.

A big part of my business right now is the integration of blockchain technology (think cryptocurrency) within my artistry. As a web3 musician and enthusiast, this new technology allows independent artists an amazing chance to build their fanbase without a middle man like a label or streaming platform holding all the important information. It also allows for sustainability as musicians, as the technology can foster a direct-to-consumer relationship with fans, helping artists make a liveable income from our talents and gifts.

For me personally, this also allows me to focus on crafting a beautiful and cohesive brand as an artist. Let’s get a little into the storytelling of Charisse Sky, or the “lore” as my fellow web3 musicians call it:

The RisseVerse is a distant world, almost untouchable, and unseen by the typical eye. It is an environment, a feeling, a deep sense of acceptance and understanding fueled by intense guiding lights called Stars (the fans/supporters) forming together at the core to create the Soulsphere. I am currently on a mission, I have seen how the humans behave on Earth and I am utterly dissatisfied and convinced I am not of this world. So, I have boarded my satellite ship, and taken to the skies to find more stars, sparks and glimmers to bring back to the RisseVerse, where they can be authentically and unapologetically themselves. Join me on this transformative journey to the center of Charisse. Welcome to my world.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I don’t look like what I’ve been through, and despite all of life’s challenges, I remain soft and compassionate while having a strong ability to set boundaries and stand up for what is right. I am also proud to be a part of music trailblazers in the Web3 space.
