Community Highlights: Meet Kacey King of KKfitness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kacey King.

Kacey King

Hi Kacey, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
KK Fitness started in 2020 during the peak of COVID-19 because I was at home and depressed. I started my journey as an undergraduate at Spelman College in George State University. My trajectory shifted when COVID came around, and the gym was off-limits. I began following workouts such as Chloe Ting and started KKFitness 09 on Instagram to inspire others to stay in shape during such a hard time. I started getting direct messages asking if I train, make meal plans, or help others in the gym, and that inspired me to take on clientele and start KK Fitness LLC in 2022. It started with training one of my best friends and then taking on strangers who just wanted to change your lives! I started making more connections within the FITNESS world and continue to grow my business every day. A year later, I worked with several clients, taught my class Slim Thick Fitness, and continued to stay involved with my community through organizations such as Pretty Girl Sweat to inspire others to prioritize their health in their everyday lifestyle.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The summer before my first year of college, I was in a severe car accident, breaking several plates in my back. Between school and chiropractor visits and also trying to maintain a college lifestyle, I found it very difficult to stay in the gym. Those obstacles, trials, and tribulations pushed me to prioritize myself and my body. I remember that I only had one body, and I was responsible for taking care of it. In 2021, I lost my father, another shift in my life to where the gym became an obsession and not a release. These obstacles in my life force me to make a shift for the best. I had to fall back in love with the gym after my first year of college and losing a very encouraging father who never made me feel wrong about being in my skin. I fell in love with fitness again, and if I didn’t miss a workout, I wouldn’t beat myself up, but I would go harder the next time I went. When I worked with my first gym, it was tough to maintain that lifestyle since it was 40 minutes away, but I pushed, persevered, and ultimately chose to leave that gym to better my business. These trials and tribulations do not define me, but they have helped me figure out what KKfitness LLC will look like. KK Fitness LLC will become a safe space to learn about fitness and fall in love with fitness while falling in love with yourself.

We’ve been impressed with KKfitness LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
KKfitness LLC’s motto will always be “inspiration over intimidation.” I have continued to create a safe space for people to get in the gym and choose a healthy lifestyle for themselves. I have trained and continue to train in online hybrid and in-person training all around Atlanta. In 2024, I want to continue to grow my clientele and create an online program that can be found on my Instagram page. I specialize in weight loss, lifestyle changes, meal ideas, and simply falling in love with yourself. My clients are my testimony to weight loss, toning, and loving your body and mind even more. I know what sets me apart from others is I’ve been in all types of spaces, being overweight, borderline obese, hating my body but still loving it at the same time, and finding that balance of what is good for me and not just for society. I am most proud of being one of the first business owners in my family and continuing to build up KK Fitness LLC since 2022. I offer services Such as training and being an accountability partner you can trust. If you are looking for a trainer who knows how you feel and can empathize and care for you, please direct message me or send me an e-mail reach out because I would love to help you on your journey.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I would say Michelle Obama’s book becoming is a super turning factor in my life. After reading that book, it made me just want to be a better woman in all my different intersectionality and that pours into my work. Also, PrettyGirlsSweat is a huge factor to my journey and business. I have been a part of this organization since 2019, and all of my sweat sisters and the founder continue to motivate me and support me in my business, and I really do appreciate it.
