Today we’d like to introduce you to Jay Coston.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started? 
In 2018, I experienced a profound moment of spiritual awakening when I felt a unique anointing that shattered something deep within me. This experience marked a significant turning point in my journey with God. As I navigated through the challenges of the pandemic in 2020, I found myself engaged in master classes with my marketing company. It was during this time that a client recognized a special gift within me – a gift to touch the lives of millions through speaking. 

Inspired by this revelation, I began to grow my social media channel, not for personal gain, but to magnify God’s glory and serve others. This led me to establish ‘You Woke Up Today,’ an organization dedicated to serving God and extending a helping hand to those in need. My passion lies in using my platform to spread love, hope, and positivity to the world. 

The passing of my beloved grandmother in 2022 deepened my connection with God and reinforced my faith. Through this loss, I found strength and solace in my relationship with the divine. Today, I am humbled by the opportunities that lie ahead, knowing that I am destined to reach even greater platforms where I can touch the lives of millions. 

I am grateful for the journey thus far and look forward to continuing to share my story, inspire others, and glorify God through everything I do. 

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In life, the road to success is never entirely smooth, but I find solace in knowing that God is guiding every step of my journey. As a business owner, faith is an essential component, and as a leader with a kingdom mindset, I recognize the importance of motivating and empowering others to make decisions that align with their purpose. 

It’s crucial to understand that, despite my best efforts, I am only human and not infallible like God. Every day presents its unique set of challenges, but I approach each obstacle with faith and determination, viewing them as opportunities for growth and greatness. This perspective is what makes ‘You Woke Up Today’ exceptional – the ability to turn struggles into steppingstones towards a brighter future. 

This is just the beginning of the incredible journey, and I am grateful for the lessons learned and the strength gained along the way. With God as my guide, I embrace each new day with hope and perseverance, ready to overcome any challenge that comes my way. 

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in serving God and others, finding immense joy in recharging people’s spirits with uplifting words that resonate deeply within them. Witnessing the spark of understanding light up someone’s face when my message reaches them, whether through a viral social media post with over 300,000 views or during a speaking engagement where tears of connection are shed, is truly fulfilling. 

My work revolves around connecting with individuals on a personal level, empathizing with their circumstances, and uplifting them to new heights of motivation and inspiration. Bringing joy to others and being a beacon of light in their lives is what I am known for. 

As a proud parent of five children, I find great pride in nurturing and guiding them. While I strive to strengthen the relationships with my two older daughters from my earlier years, I am deeply proud of my three younger children, ages 13, 6, and 5. Witnessing my 5-year-old excel in reading and math at a 6th-grade level fills me with immense pride, knowing that they are not only academically advanced but also grounded in their understanding of God. 

Breaking generational curses and instilling a deep connection with God in my children is a core focus for me. I believe that everyone has a unique story to share for God’s glory, and my ability to recognize and celebrate the uniqueness in each individual is what sets me apart. Embracing my own uniqueness and identity has empowered me to uplift others and make a meaningful impact in their lives, knowing that God created each of us to be distinct and valuable in our own ways. 

This sense of purpose and understanding of my identity fuels my work and sets me apart in my mission to serve God and inspire others to live authentically and purposefully. 

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up in Wilmington, Delaware, I was like any typical kid, navigating the journey of self-discovery and understanding my identity. Being raised in Wilmington as an African-American, I often noticed how people’s eyes would light up upon hearing my hometown, as it seemed rare to them. Despite this, I believe that our backgrounds shape us, and I have always adapted to my surroundings. 

My childhood was a time of learning and growth, where each experience played a role in shaping the person I am today. The challenges and triumphs I faced as a young person have contributed to my character and values. I am grateful for the guidance and protection that God provided, keeping me close to Him through it all. 

Throughout my upbringing, I experienced the loss of many friends, yet I stand strong today, a testament to God’s grace and strength within me. Coming from a tight-knit community where everyone knows each other, I consider myself truly blessed to have overcome obstacles and grown from my experiences. 

I cherish the lessons learned and the resilience gained from my upbringing, knowing that they have prepared me for the path I walk today. Each chapter of my past has contributed to the person I am now, and I am thankful for the journey that has brought me to where I stand today.
