Today we’d like to introduce you to Aysha Abdullatif
Hi Aysha, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Nasser and I are partners both in life and business, so we like to say that our journey truly began when we made one of the most important decisions of our lives – getting married! From a career standpoint, Nasser’s remarkable journey began with him working in hospitality for more than 16 years, where he managed operations for prestigious hotels like The Westin and Hilton. Daringly, he pivoted to the tech world, engaging with industry giants like Amazon, Grove and Warner Media. Throughout his journey, Nasser lived in nine different countries and various U.S. cities, shaping a unique global perspective that enriches our business today.
I, on the other hand, was born and raised in the South. Throughout my professional journey of more than 15 years, I’ve held diverse roles in communications, staffing and recruiting across New York, Seattle and Toronto. I am also the CEO and founder of Ayeworld, a creative marketing and communications agency, where I refined my skills in business and marketing strategy.
Our venture into entrepreneurship marks a new milestone for us both, and we proudly own and operate Spherion Northeast Atlanta today.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As for any business owner, maintaining a work-life balance has been an ongoing, evolving challenge for us. With two little ones in the mix and both of us juggling work responsibilities, finding equilibrium has been a significant learning curve. We’re in a constant state of experimentation, trying out new habits like fitting in workouts before work or during lunch. While there’s no one-size-fits-all balance, communication is key. Listening to our partner and team ensures everyone feels heard, preventing burnout and fostering a harmonious environment.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Spherion Northeast Atlanta?
Spherion Northeast Atlanta is a local staffing and recruiting agency with a focus on temporary staffing, temp-to-hire, direct hiring, on-premises staff management and outsourced talent acquisition. Our mission is to drive careers, grow businesses and better the communities we call home through matching the right candidate with the right employer. Since opening our office in October 2023, we’ve embedded ourselves in the local community and expanded our team. Most recently, we welcomed Adam Prewitt as our Senior Business Development Manager and Stacie Rouissi as our Director of Executive Search and Direct Hire. Their talent and expertise will undoubtedly help us continue our growth. It is always challenging to get a new business off the ground, so we are especially proud of our recent accolade: Corporate Vision named Spherion Northeast Atlanta the top temporary recruitment agency in Georgia for 2024!
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
To Nasser and I, determination is the most important factor that drives success. We would say “resilience” but with determination to ride through the rocky waves, the “no’s,” and the speed bumps that inevitably come along with starting a business. We stay focused on what our goals are to make sure we can always figure out a path through and forward.
