Today we’d like to introduce you to Malika Daniels
Hi Malika, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m someone who has always been pretty good with money and I enjoy holding on to as much of my money as possible. As a little kid, I would babysit for neighbors and I always saved the money I made instead of going shopping. In my 20’s working as a teacher, I was able to save up enough money for a down payment and buy my first house. When I met my husband he had about $60K of student loan debt, we decided that once we got married we would work together and pay off that debt. We were able to pay off the $60K in 2 years. That’s when I truly realized the power of having a financial plan. I later went back to school to receive a certification in Banking and Finance, and I became an Accredited Financial Counselor. I knew that I had a lot of knowledge and experience around finances that many did not. I wanted to share what I’ve learned with others. As a money coach, my role is to support my clients in achieving their financial goals and improving their financial confidence.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Starting my own Money Coaching business has not been all sunshine and rainbows. Though I love working with clients and helping them change their financial journey, running a business is so much more than just helping clients. My biggest struggles have been around marketing/sales and technology. These are things I don’t have as much experience in and that I honestly don’t always enjoy doing. I’ve learned the importance of asking for help, giving myself grace, utilizing available resources, and delegating tasks.
We’ve been impressed with Women Who Money Plan, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a money coach who empowers women to take control of their financial stories. I provide 1:1 coaching, helping my clients to gain financial clarity, create money plans, and achieve their financial goals. The majority of my clients are making good money, but feel like they are still living paycheck to paycheck. They want to have more to show for all the hard work they’ve been putting in. These women are often tired of being in credit card debt and struggling to save money. My coaching program provides them with financial clarity, a clear plan, education, and accountability. We often know the things we “should” be doing, but most of us can benefit from some extra support to guide us on the right path and help us to stick to our plan.
My Coaching program provides 10 1:1 sessions where we work together over 4 months to improve your relationship with your money. I am an Accredited Financial Counselor which means, I’ve read the books, studied the material, and passed the exam. But even more important than that, I have first-hand experience on paying off debt and increasing my net worth. I haven’t only read books about it, I’ve done it. I’ve also helped countless women on their financial journey as well.
Before becoming a Money Coach, I was a teacher and worked in education for 12 years. I have a Master’s Degree in Education and am extremely passionate about educating others. I understand that everyone learns differently, so I try to incorporate varying modalities of learning into my coaching sessions.
My program not only consists of creating written money plans, but we tailor sessions to your goals and your specific situation. I also focus on improving your mindset in relation to money. We work on letting go of any shame from past “money mistakes”, we develop an understanding of our current habits and make conscious decisions around new healthy habits. We work on being more intentional with our money so that it is being used towards the things that will bring us joy.

I always offer a free initial consultation so we can discuss your current financial struggles, your goals and determine if money coaching would be a good fit for you.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
I have a Facebook group called “Women Who Money Plan” which is a safe space for women to talk about their financial struggles and share wins within a supportive environment.
If someone is interested in signing up for coaching, but not sure if it’s for them, I provide free initial consultations which can be booked by going to my website www.womenwhomoneyplan.com
I’m also available to provide workshops for small businesses or organizations to discuss the basics of finances and help their staff or clients get started on the right financial path.
