Today we’d like to introduce you to Miriam Frost
Hi Miriam, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My name is Miriam Frost, and my journey to entrepreneurship started long before I ever opened Stellar Power Yoga studio. Originally from New York, I relocated to North Carolina with my then-husband and two young boys, seeking a better life for our family. We wanted a strong family culture, and North Carolina seemed like the perfect place for our boys to grow up. During this time, I continued my career in corporate America, holding a position as a relationship manager at a Fortune 500 company. But my passion for fitness always stayed with me, and to supplement our income, I began teaching classes at local gyms. Eventually, I became the Director of Group Fitness at Bally’s Total Fitness. Life was a balancing act—juggling my corporate role, teaching fitness classes, raising two boys, and caring for my aging mother, who had moved in with us. But despite the fullness of my plate, I did my best to thrive, fueled by my passion for helping others. In the midst of all this, a neighbor invited me to try a hot yoga class. I didn’t know it at the time, but that moment would change the course of my life. From the moment I stepped into the studio, I felt a sense of peace and purpose. Yoga became more than just a workout for me. It was a practice that i could share with the world. I knew then that one day I would open a yoga studio—a space where people could experience transformation one class at a time by injection positivity, possibilities and purpose through physical practice, words and affirmations. Fast forward to 2013, I relocated to Atlanta to continue my corporate career. But even then, the vision of opening my own studio stayed with me. In 2017, that dream became a reality when I opened Stellar Power Yoga on May 1st—the same day I turned off my corporate computer for the last time. The name “Stellar” came from my belief in the excellence that exists within each of us. For me, it stands for strength, tenacity, enlightenment, love, leadership, and resilience—qualities I wanted to help people discover through yoga and fitness. I define “stellar” as that inner spark in each of us that sometimes just needs a little push, a little perseverance, to really shine. The early days of Stellar Power Yoga were filled with excitement and challenges. We started small—a team of four, myself included. But our community quickly grew, and so did our vision. We built a space where people could not only work on their physical health but also “work in,” strengthening themselves from the inside out. This year 2024 we expanded from 1,400 square feet to 2,700 and added new classes like Pilates, barre, and indoor cycling. We continue to offer teacher training, workshops, a juice bar, and an apparel store, creating a comprehensive wellness experience for our community. But like every journey, there were unexpected challenges along the way. COVID hit us hard, forcing us to pivot overnight. We transitioned to virtual classes, held sessions outside, and modified our schedules—doing whatever it took to keep the community connected. It was one of the toughest challenges we had faced as a business, but we persevered. I reminded myself daily of the Bible verse, “This too shall pass.” It wasn’t easy, but I knew that as long as we stayed committed, we would make it through. And we did. We lost two and a half years, but we never lost our passion or our drive. On top of the challenges in the business, I faced personal losses as well. My mother passed away 3 ½ years ago, and then in 2023, I lost my sister on Thanksgiving Day. The grief has been difficult to navigate, but I’ve found healing in the work I do—giving back to the people who are still here, helping them through their own struggles and transformations. I’ve realized that even in the darkest moments, there is purpose. Sometimes we just have to dig a little deeper to find it. As an entrepreneur, I’ve learned that success isn’t about avoiding challenges; it’s about facing them head-on and finding strength in perseverance. It’s easy to keep going when everything is smooth, but the real test comes when life throws its hardest challenges your way. Through it all, I’ve held onto my belief that when you’re called to do something good in this world, you don’t stop—no matter what. Now, in 2024, Stellar Power Yoga is stronger than ever. We’ve grown into a community of over 15 staff members, including Karma Yogis and advocates who believe in our mission of empowering people from the inside out. I’m proud of the space we’ve built—a place where people can find strength, peace, and resilience. And as long as I’m able, I’ll continue to help others focus on their health, their wellness, and their inner strength.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As an entrepreneur, some of the toughest challenges I’ve faced have been deeply personal. The onset of COVID-19 was one of the most significant obstacles for my business. Like many others, we had to pivot quickly. Overnight, Stellar Power Yoga went from in-person classes to offering virtual sessions, outdoor classes, and modified schedules. Navigating through the uncertainty was a test of resilience. I have had and still have good people in my corner who love what they do. The three teachers that stand out to me the most and are still will me after 8 years is Paige Hinton, Shayla Buron and Richard Fudge. We adapted because we knew that people needed this space more than ever. The pandemic was a difficult time for everyone, but I felt a responsibility to keep going, to offer a place where people could work on their mental and physical health during a period of intense fear and isolation. At the same time, I was dealing with personal loss. My mother passed away, and it was an incredibly difficult period in my life. Not long after, I lost my sister in 2023, and that grief weighed heavily on me. Losing two of the most important women in my life was devastating. But through it all, I remained committed to the studio. The work became a way for me to process my grief and give back to others who were also struggling. I believe in the healing power of community, and while I was navigating my personal losses, I leaned into supporting those around me. These challenges strengthened my resolve to keep Stellar Power Yoga alive and thriving, not just for me but for everyone who walks through our doors.

What makes you happy?
What makes me happy is seeing people truly thrive and embrace life—not from a place of ego, but with grace and gratitude. There’s something powerful in focusing on what we do have, in appreciating our blessings rather than dwelling on what’s missing. One of my greatest joys is helping people create time to nurture themselves, to nurture their families, and ultimately to heal. Healing takes time—it’s about getting to know ourselves, learning to love ourselves deeply. Only then can we authentically extend that love to others.
At the end of many of my classes, I share a message from my heart: I always ask my students to let these words land gently on their spirit, to receive them with love and understanding. “I wish for you continued courage, continued strength, and continued self-love. Courage to help you navigate through some of the most difficult challenges that life has to offer you. Strength to never let those challenges change the essence of who you are or deviate you from your path to your limitless possibilities. I wish for you more and more self-love, by doing the things that feed your spirit and nourish your soul and to always rise above every occasion as the best version of yourself.”
Seeing the light in people’s eyes when they receive these words, knowing they’ve resonated with them—that’s what makes me truly happy. It’s a gift to be able to offer this space where people can grow and heal, and where we can all journey together toward self-love and fulfillment. Namaste.
