Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Lucas
Hi Jennifer, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always posted here and there, but I remember the first viral video I had was in November 2021. The internet went nuts over my oversized corgi and since then I’ve been hooked! I think there’s this idea that you need to focus on one niche, but I find inspiration from so many different things and I love sharing all the different parts of my life: fashion, pets, DIY, books, relationships, etc. Since I keep my content so broad, I know not every video I post will be a hit, but these are the pieces that make up my life and mean something to me. And I truly believe that being consistent and making meaningful content will ultimately reach more people than just following trends.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I think the hardest part of having a social media presence is the ups and downs. The internet is kind of the Wild West and you never know what you’re going to get. They might love you one day and hate you the next. I feel so lucky that my audience encourages me but not all creators are as lucky. I think it’s so important to remember that we’re real people with real feelings. Posting for the whole world to see can be scary- so have compassion and be kind.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m probably most recognizable for my dress collection- I have about 25 gowns and counting- but people might also recognize my giant fluffy corgi or some of the DIY projects I’ve done. I’m not sure if I have a speciality, though I do think all my content has a whimsical undertone. I want the content I put out into the world to encourage people to romanticize their lives. There’s a little bit of magic everywhere if you just look for it.
I would say I’m most proud of my persistence. I post 3-5 times a week across 3 separate social media platforms and have amassed a following of over 450,000 people. I work a classic 9-5 corporate job during the week so that means I film and edit all of my content on the weekends or in the evenings. It’s not always easy, but I’m a huge believer that consistency over time will eventually help me take my social media full-time.
I think something that sets me apart is my ability to get things done. When I have any idea, I’m going to do it. Whether it’s building a bookcase with a rolling ladder or learning how to drive a stick, I don’t think there’s anything out there that’s beyond my capabilities.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
The first thing that comes to mind is my husband and my family. We just celebrated our 7 year anniversary and he’s truly my guiding light. My parents have always supported me and cheered me on in everything I do, so I feel so fortunate to be surrounded by such a strong foundation of people. My dogs also make me extremely happy, even if they leave an ungodly amount of fur all over my house.
