Rising Stars: Meet Kalipop of College Park

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kalipop

Hi KALIPOP, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started music as a child in Montreal, Quebec. My craft was championed and nurtured by my family. They sensed something special in me early. I worked the Montreal music circuit for many years, meanwhile traveling to the United States during the summers. At 21 I took the leap of faith, and moved to NYC where I worked with countless legends and created my own professional foundation.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
This road has blessed me, I’ve smiled and laughed so much. God has blessed me tremendously through my music journey. I’ve healed childhood traumas in sessions with likeminded humans. There were times, though when I felt like I wasn’t being respected as a creative by certain labels and artists. I went inward and decide to pivot my approach. When you just do you, there should be minimal struggling.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a singer, songwriter, artist.
People recognize me for artistry, I’m acknowledged most commonly for my pen game honey, yas.
What sets me an apart is my journey.
How I materialize my experience. I have a certain pizazz that is only present because it was conjured up. I prayed to God for bravery, and spunk, I prayed to the Lord that they would enrich me with the goods necessary for my confidence. I’m most proud of my mind. The way it works, how every song I have, has 2 sometimes 3 meanings, and Easter eggs.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Scared money, don’t make no money.
As long as you believe you can afford it, take the risk. Gotta have faith, Evans.

One risk I’m glad I took was randomly moving to New Orleans. I ended up experiencing important life lessons that prepared me for where I am now.
I figured if I can move from my country, I can state hop. Why not… maybe I’ll change my name to KALIHOP, cause I always take a Leap of Faith… sheesh.
