Arionna, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I still laugh thinking about how my makeup journey began – from botched eyebrow attempts in middle school to becoming a full-fledged makeup artist & hair stylist, it’s been an interesting ride! The business all started with highschool performing arts. These are the times where I independently learned to enhance my features. Soon, schoolmates were asking for my services, and I thought, ‘Why not?!’ I started charging $25 a face and realized there was real money in makeup! Covid hit, and I pivoted to social media, creating makeup videos that birthed Beauty by Vanya. After graduation, I worked at a mall makeup booth while growing my brand on the side. Although I wasn’t allowed to promote my own, this helped with my experience and technique. As my business boomed, I invested in a vehicle and added mobile amenities. I tried out different business spas and other malls as well, but ultimately, focused on my own business by 2022. Now, I’m thrilled to have recently rebranded as The Booth by Vanya – Still rooted in faith, our God-driven business has evolved with a new name, enhanced efficiency, and the same exceptional service you’ve come to trust.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’d be lying if I said starting my own business has been a seamless journey, but the bumps along the way have made it all the more rewarding. In the beginning, finding a stable workspace was a challenge. I experimented with different locations, but nothing seemed to stick. That’s when I decided to take my business on the road – literally! Becoming a part-mobile business was a game-changer. It allowed me to reach more clients and adapt to changing circumstances. Another hurdle was pricing. I struggled to find that delicate balance between charging enough to sustain myself and being sensitive to the economic climate. I didn’t want to burden my clients with exorbitant prices, but I also needed to make a living. It’s been a constant juggling act, navigating inflation, deflation, and economic uncertainty. Despite these challenges, running my business has been an incredible adventure. It’s taught me resilience, creativity, and the importance of staying true to my values. I’ve had the privilege of connecting with amazing clients, making them feel confident and beautiful, and building a community that supports and uplifts one another.
