Today we’d like to introduce you to Josh “Flyguy” Floyd
Hi Josh, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Absolutely! My journey has been one of passion, resilience, and a deep commitment to helping others. Growing up, I was immersed in sports, playing both basketball and football. Those experiences not only shaped me but also opened doors, leading me to play Division 1 college basketball at Savannah State University, where I majored in Business Management. Sports instilled in me discipline, teamwork, and the mindset to dream big.
After college, I furthered my education, earning a master’s degree in Strategic Leadership from the University of Charleston, which equipped me with the tools to turn ideas into impactful initiatives. From there, I became a trainer, working with professional athletes and kids of all ages. Today, I’m proud to say I’m a trainer at Lion Chaser Fitness in Buckhead—a space where transformation happens daily.
My passion for youth development truly came to life when I saw how sports could change a child’s life—instilling confidence, structure, and hope. This inspired me to create the FLYKIDS Foundation, a nonprofit that empowers youth through sports, mentorship, and providing the resources they need to thrive. Through FLYKIDS, I aim to break the cycle of poverty and inspire the next generation to reach their full potential.
Every step of this journey—whether training clients, building a community at Lion Chaser Fitness, or working with the kids through FLYKIDS—has been about helping others achieve greatness. It’s been an incredible ride so far, and I’m excited to see how we can continue making an impact!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road—nothing worth having ever comes easy. Trying to change lives is a great responsibility, and it comes with its own set of challenges. Working with kids, building a nonprofit, and being a trainer requires so much energy, patience, and resilience. But it’s also incredibly rewarding.
After my basketball career ended, I went through a period of searching. I tried a good amount of things, figuring out what path I wanted to take and where I could make the biggest impact. It wasn’t always clear at the time, and there were moments of doubt. But looking back, every experience helped shape me into the man I am today.
Building Fly Kids and working with young people has been both challenging and fulfilling. It’s not easy to take an idea, grow it, and inspire others to see your vision. There are late nights, setbacks, and moments where things are tough. But those times only make it more fulfilling in the end when you get to see the real life impact you can have on people with your good energy!
I also get to pour into adults and athletes daily at Lion Chaser so that balance between my work and my mission with Fly Kids has been key to my journey. It’s not just about training bodies or mentoring kids—it’s about teaching life lessons, building confidence, and empowering others to chase greatness. Those moments make all the challenges worthwhile.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As a trainer, I specialize in helping clients both online and in person achieve their fitness goals, from weight loss and strength building to improving athletic performance. I also dedicate my time to working with kids, helping them develop their skills in sports while instilling confidence, discipline, and a love for the game.
Through the Fly Kids Foundation, I’ve created initiatives like clothing drives and partnered with schools and local organizations to empower underserved youth. What sets me apart is my commitment to building meaningful relationships and using fitness as a tool to create lasting change.
One of the things I’m most proud of is seeing the impact Fly Kids has made in such a short time. Whether it’s inspiring kids to dream bigger or providing them with resources to succeed, knowing I’m making a difference fuels my passion every day. It’s more than just training—it’s about creating opportunities, building a community, and changing lives.
