Today we’d like to introduce you to Robert Cordy
Hi Robert, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was Born and Raised in Miami, FL! I moved to Atlanta in 2009 with the hopes and dreams of per suing a career in Music. That all changed when I became a Fire Fighter/Paramedic for the Atlanta Fire Rescue Department! Starting a career derailed my dreams of Traveling as a Musician. Especially after finding out I was expecting my first Child. So I decided to settle my music career locally. The band started off doing Parties and Events for my Family and Co-Workers within the Fire Department. I would just call musicians friends of mine to see who was available to play the event. I didn’t have a Name for the band or nothing. Once we started playing in local Bars and Restaurants I realized we now needed a name/brand. After weeks of going through names I finally concluded with The REC Band! Fun Fact: Those are my initials Robert Edward Cordy (REC)…. Fast forward to today, the REC band is one of the hottest bands in the Greater Atlanta area.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all was it smooth. The biggest struggle was trying to get in with the IN crowd here in the Atlanta music scene. The Atlanta scene then was a “Who do you know?” “Who knows you?” ordeal. Being frustrated with Egos and Favoritism within the music scene, I decided to start my own band! And we have been rolling ever since
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Public Safety is my passion!!! I am a Fire Fighter/Paramedic for Rockdale County Fire Department. I also work as a Georgia Fire Safety Officer. I count it an Honor and Privilege to be able to save lives and protect property. I believe my desire to treat people with respect is what separates me from others
