Today we’d like to introduce you to Yher Dollz.
Hi Yher, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Yher Dollz Model Group is a creative Plussize modeling and entertainment collective known for promoting diverse beauty, confidence, and empowerment, especially among young women of color. The group typically focuses on fashion, runway, photoshoots, and social media content creation, often blending urban aesthetics with bold, trendsetting styles. Yher Dollz also emphasizes community building and self-expression, providing a platform for aspiring Plus-size models and influencers to showcase their talent and style.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being a plus-size model can be empowering, but it also comes with unique challenges. Here are some of the common struggles:
Limited Opportunities:
Despite progress, mainstream fashion still favors straight-size models. Plus-size models often find fewer gigs, especially in high fashion or luxury brands.
Stereotypes and Stigma:
There’s still a lot of bias, including the idea that plus-size equals unhealthy or unprofessional, which can affect how models are treated on and off set.
Sample Size Issues:
Many designers and stylists don’t carry extended sizes for fittings or shoots, forcing plus-size models to bring their own clothes or work with ill-fitting options.
Body Scrutiny:
Plus-size models face intense pressure to maintain a specific kind of “curvy” body — often hourglass — which can be just as unrealistic and limiting as traditional beauty standards.
Lack of Representation:
Even in “inclusive” campaigns, plus-size models are often tokenized or not given the same platform and visibility as their smaller peers.
Mental Health Impact:
Constant critique and comparison, both online and within the industry, can take a toll on self-esteem and mental health.
Limited Support Systems:
Agencies, stylists, and photographers with experience working with plus-size bodies are still less common, which can affect a model’s career growth.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
