Today we’d like to introduce you to Mya & Terrance.
Hi Mya &, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Me and Terrance has been best friends since 9th grade back in 2019. We started dating at our 4 year mark of being best friends back in 2023. We were looking on TikTok one day and decided why not start making content of us being ourselves since a lot of people around us were interested in our story of us being best friends for so long then all of a sudden started dating. We were being consistent and started gaining thousands of followers and even had 2 videos that blew up to 1 million views within our 1st year of being on TikTok in 2023.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No, it wasn’t a smooth road. Some of the obstacles were trying to stay motivated to consistently post, finding what works for us, and getting more people to view our page.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Mya- I have an online business called Abandoned Studio but was once known as SouthernGACharmz. It’s currently in the process of being rebranded to being a clothing brand and incorporate my jewelry into it since it was once solely a jewelry brand. I also work from home as a Beauty Advisor answering email requests from customers regarding shade matches, product suggestions, and etc.
Terrance- I’m a mechanic. I always loved cars and my dad is who taught me when I was a kid about everything I know about cars.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Yes, we took a major risk when me and Terrance moved into our first apartment together. We were both 19 (Terrance) and 20 (Mya) at the time when it happened. His parents were okay with him moving out but my mine weren’t. They didn’t agree with me moving out so young and rather me have waited until I got older. Even though my parents didn’t agree with it, I still moved out anyways and it turned out for the better. People had their doubts about us living together only 6 months of being together besides us already being best friends for 4 years and mainly with us being young. The doubts only made us go harder at what we do in life to prove them wrong. Our motivation everyday is to make sure we show them we’re not the typical young adults that just move back in with parents since it ended up not working out.
