Meet Rodman Randolph of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rodman Randolph.

Hi Rodman, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
So I guess long story short lol, I don’t even know where to begin.
I mean back to roots. I’m from a small town in Northern Virginia. More cows than there are people. I’m pretty sure. Fauquier county. No one‘s ever heard of it so I just say NoVa (Northern Virginia).

But all in all, my entertainment career doesn’t really start with acting. My parents (Mike & JoJo) have been DJs our entire life. They have pretty much DJd most of my closest friends weddings. They DJ my alum high school prom, talent show, etc. countless parties and major events in our town.. So I’ve been kind of kept around the performing most of my life.

We did pageants when we were younger. All of my siblings. I have three Michael, who’s my oldest. Ashley my older sister a few years younger than him, and Jordan, she is just is 13 months older than me.

So anyway, like I said, I was kind of raised around getting to know the entertainment lifestyle. But it didn’t really become a dream and a passion until me and my sister who again is only 13 months apart from me, we used to watch ‘Suite life of Zack and Cody’ when it first came out and we called ourselves the wonder twins and Had plans to be the next Dylan and Cole Sprouse lol even though she’s a female!

So the desire was always there, especially in the back of my mind as a pretty solid Plan B, as I was a triathlete my entire life. I played football and had the hopes to go to college and maybe play professional. But as I have barely ever reached above 155 pounds.. Those dreams didnt really seem to be planning out all that well.

BUT I did follow my sister down to coastal Carolina university in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina right after I graduated high school. I was technically enrolled in the school and had the plans to get in-state tuition and just take a year off but still living down there by the Campus

Those plans changed pretty quickly after being there for just a handful of months I started pursuing acting very heavily. I started taking classes actually all the way out in Charlotte, North Carolina. And I would travel every single week about a six hour commute back-and-forth to keep pursuing the classes. My aunt & uncle (Edwina & Ron) were there to help me gain my sea legs in this industry and really help me develop into the young man that started all of this.

During that time in Charlotte was when I was given the opportunity to fly out to Texas And do this big talent show. ‘The Mike Beatty expo.’ And that’s where I met my first and still one of my agents today, Landrum Arts! I surely do owe a lot of my success and credit to them, as they have been a part of almost every project that I’ve done Professionally in the industry.

So that leads me to the journey through the industry. When I found, or should I say when Dawn Landrum found me out at the Texas expo back in 2016? I believe it was. I signed with their agency and quickly had a handful of auditions especially those that were bringing me to Atlanta to audition in person. Again, this is before Covid. before every audition was a self tape. We were still coming in person for a lot of auditions and I had a handful at Tyler Perry studios, or with Casting Director’s like George Pierre where I would come in person. What a thrilling time that was to! I definitely miss coming in person for auditions.

But besides that, speaking of George Pierre, he is incredibly one of the most influential casting directors in the city. And he also is the one who booked me on my first major role where I played Chico DeBarge in ‘The Bobby Debarge Story’.

I then landed a couple network TV shows like ‘Legacies’ and ‘Doom Patrol’. You can also find me on some other things like ‘Homicide Hunter’. You may even see me as a featured role in the Black Adam movie with Dwayne The Rock Johnson!
Actually, that is one of my favorite projects, even though I am not playing a principal role. I had the opportunity to be a stand-in for Aldis Hodge, which truly just means I’m in place of him while the cameras get ready. But that was a major humbling experience as I also got to do stunts and just be with the entire Cast & crew for a good portion of the project. And hanging with and meeting my idol’s like The Rock, Aldis Hodge, Pierce Brosnan, Noah Centino and just many others. That truly is probably one of my favorite projects and you can definitely catch me on camera with Aldis a couple times so that’s pretty cool.

But again, even though I spoke the most about that one, it’s actually the only role that I don’t have speaking lines in out of those that I referred to before.

I’ve had a good bit of success with some regional commercials, some national stuff that has aired on social media and other platforms. Still looking for that Jake from State Farm role though!

As you see, I like to goof off I’m hoping this is going to be edited lol. But that’s just who I am at Nature. I’m also in the car driving to Arkansas for a new role where I am going to be playing the Role of Eric Turner in a lifetime thriller called ‘Dead Girl Summer’. I’m not sure how much I can talk about it yet, so shhhh.

Outside of film and television, I have worked in the fashion and nightlife industry in Atlanta since I landed here! I had some early shows with Believe MUSIC HALL, where we showcased some cool pieces that I designed and help create with another colleague. Then that quickly spiraled into me being a director for a fashion label called Six Feathers! We directed dozens of fashion shows, including a monthly event at tongue and groove, which is a pretty prestigious nightclub in town if you’ve heard of it. But also directed some fashion shows at Imagine Music festival and also a show out at Caesar’s Palace in Vegas with brands like ‘fubu’, ‘chasing chickens’ and some other Fun brands for a big fashion expo out there.

I still love to model and get in front of the camera and I’m ready to be on GQ whenever they do give me that call or maybe Calvin Klein whichever, I’m not picky. But I do tend to focus on the acting world more as that is my true passion.

I also have a wits for tech and the business world as well. I run my own production company behind the scenes where I tend to get behind the camera and direct, but I also run a joint venture with a limo service where we are expanding the luxury rideshare experience-throughout Atlanta. Hoping to expand a branch to other cities soon.

And lastly but certainly the most dear to me. I am a Father to a beautiful lil two year Girl. Her name is Aurora and she is the light of my life. Her mother is also a model and we look to get Aurora infront of the camera more often as well as she loves taking pictures and goofing with us on camera. I may include a headshot of her as well.

I think that about sums me up. I play a lot of video games for hobby. Actually am a streamer as well: trying to build them twitch subs! But outside of that my daily hobbies are maybe traveling, kicking it with friends and hanging with my daughter.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Heck, no it’s not been a smooth road lol! Naw but really I did have a very fortunate childhood. Both my parents, same house my entire life. We weren’t rich, but we definitely weren’t poor either. So I would say I had it good for myself up until I went out of my own trying to chase my dreams lol!

The first year or two in Myrtle Beach were really just me getting my feet under me and trying to survive as an adult on my own.

Like I said I wasn’t going to school. I had the intentions to get in-state tuition and go later and maybe walk on the football team at Coastal Carolina. But all in all I was really just Out there by the beach on my own at 17 right out of high school. So that was the biggest adjustment. Just learning how to take care of bills, learning taxes, finding jobs and deciding what I was going to focus on with my life.

But really ever since I found acting and I put the blinders on and really focused. Having that dream and that desire in the back of my head really makes the struggles or the “not so smooth road”, kind of a lot smoother you know? If that makes sense, I don’t know, I hope.

Really what I’m trying to say is, you’ve heard it 1000 times if you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life.

So granted, I’m not yet at household name. Or you don’t see me every time you turn on the TV, so im still growing and learning. Surely not a full-time actor just yet, I got my side hustles too, I drive for Uber. Like I said I run my own production company. I’m growing that and expanding other business ventures that I’m working on. So eventually, I will be a household name either way. If it’s not on the TV screen. then maybe it’ll be an app in your phone. Who knows. But I know the Grind never stops, hustle never sleeps and that’s what keeps me going.

So I just don’t think that there is a lot of struggles that I can pinpoint along the way. Very fortunate childhood and am very thankful for the successes I’ve had on my journey.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
OK, well I kind of put a lot of that information in the initial story box on the first tab.
I didn’t realize I was gonna go more in detail on my work.
But I can summarize it again

I am an actor first and foremost. That is where I’ve had majority of my success. Playing roles like Chico DeBarge in the ‘Bobby Debarge Story’. Also, Brock in ‘Legacies’ and had a really fun role on ‘Doom Patrol’ .

Also, you can catch me doing stunts in the ‘Black Adam’ movie as well as a hand full of the other shows like ‘homicide Hunter’ And many regional commercials! A handful of witch that I have aired on some networks but a lot of social media ads that have been national.

I have directed dozens of fashion shows all through Atlanta over my career in the industry. I started off just modeling. But it grew into me, directing a local label in town. Which led to. Some big shows like at imagine music festival. Also we did some shows all the way out in Vegas at Caesar’s Palace!
Currently working on some new designs and a fashion release for my own label. So stay tuned on my page for that!

Outside of that, if I’m not on set, I do have some side hustles just to keep me afloat! I have been driving for Uber and my own private client transportation service for a while. This has sprung into a joint venture that I’m expanding on now. Are building a fleet of luxury rideshare in Atlanta.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Oh man, not COVID-19. This was a very interesting time. I think for pretty much every human on the planet!

It’s a turning point that will be in history, books forever, a pandemic that we will tell our kids about, if you don’t already have kids that are old enough to remember.

So there was so much to learn from and taken with COVID-19. But I think the biggest thing at the end of the day was that we are all in this together.

There is no Me or you. It’s really just We! And I wish more people would have also grassper that same lesson. It seems like the climate now we’re almost going backwards from where we were in 2020. But that’s a whole other subject!

I personally wasn’t affected by the disease itself all that much. I got it once or twice and shucked it like a cold. But during that year and right after the world got back to normal I did lose a really dear friend to me. Unrelated to actually COVID-19. But just the way the world was at that time, and I invited him to work with my fashion brand and the things that we had going on at the time.. It truly struck me hard because I just don’t think that we would’ve lost him given the circumstances being different and Covid slowing down everything just put him In the wrong place at the wrong time.

So that was truly my biggest struggle. And the most valuable lesson that I learned was just cherishing life and you just never know when you’re gonna give that Best Friend that last hug. “Stick to the Plan Chan”
