Meet Lawson Wright of Atlanta, GA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lawson Wright.

Hi Lawson, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
The entity known as Shugah Munny was formed deep within the raw matter of the One True Boogie. The revolution began with one thought: perhaps there were many true boogies, not one. From this schism the avatar Shuggie emerged and shattered the chain tying it to the limits of music. Shuggie then began to dance across the cosmos, scattering countless fragments of his chain as he went. By chance of fate, Three of these fragments were drawn together and became aspects of Shuggie:
Matt, the voice and the rythem as one, Mike, the archivist of all things musical and theorectical, and Lawson, the mad poet, unafraid to look anywhere for inspiration. As their powers manifest, they felt the presence of a 4th shard. The three sons of Shuggie pooled their desire for pure bass and the aspect Austen emerged. He did not speak. He did not smile. They were not sure if he could read, but from his fingers came perfectly funky basslines for all occasions. With newfound power the 4 set out to spread the gospel of their creator, but the One True Boogie had its own agents at play. Determined to be reunited with Shuggie, the One True Boogie dispatched the Horn Goons, Bradley and Alex, knights of musical law, to retrieve and rechain shuggie, restoreing order and harmony to the boogieverse.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?

Shugah Munny plays hype funk and power disco. We also have bubble machines. We are about to release our 2nd full length album this year entitled “Refined Shugah”. We recorded it at Standard Electric Recorders Company

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Fun! If it’s not fun, it doesn’t work. Additionally, silly has no calories. Great energetic live shows full of bubbles!
