Today we’d like to introduce you to Clara Richardson-Olguin.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Well, my story started in the Dominican Republic when I asked my parents if I can move to Boston to study music and they said “NO” both of my parents are doctors and for the music is not a formal profession. So I embarked on a career in Law, I graduated from law school in 1999. But my passion for music led me to the US to study music management at Georgia State University (1998). I had worked in so many roles based on my background in the entertainment industry, including manager, actress, model, songwriter, voice coach, producer, and personal manager since 1989-2005.
I was very dedicated to the Latino Music Industry in Atlanta since 1998 producing a Latin show and Art Exhibit called Vívelo recognized by the City of Atlanta House of Representative as the true expression of Latin culture, hitting mayor media “Vívelo Show”, putting Atlanta on Latino music map” AJC February 12, 2003. I worked with the Hispanic media for the past 8 years and has served many others events as a PR Coordinator or Producer, Day of the Death at the Woodruff Art Center, Día de La Mujer LatinaFestival, Nuestra Belleza Latina beauty Contest, and the GRAMMY Professional Development Panels to name a few.
I meet my husband while dancing Salsa, “you dance Salsa on good floors” right!? My husband after serving in the military in Mexico, he came to the United States to help family members already living here and decided to stay after meeting me. While working as a floor installer for more than 14 years, he decided he wanted his own business so he can help others master the skills he’s learned. We decide to open the store going from $150K now 2017 $1K on sales.
As immigrants with eclectic backgrounds, I believed we bring an especially unique approach to our flooring business while focusing on service, craftsmanship and quality. Cesar have the skill, precision and detailed organization, I think that together we both bring an artistic touch to every flooring project. Is our personal mission that not only sustains their four children but that also provides quality jobs for skilled workers so that they too can provide for their families. CIC is committed to improving the lives of floor installers who often suffer from under-employment and low wages by offering consistent work and training.
As a family-owned business, we promise to treat every client’s home as if it were our own. We are a full-service operation, with a broad selection of flooring materials and the expertise and an artistic eye to ensure an installation that will beautify the space for years to come. CIC Floors support organizations such as Jaennette Rankin Women’s Scholarship Funds, Children Healthcare of Atlanta and Goal Scholarship Funds. Certify by the National Hardwood Association, Member of the National Association of Professional Women, the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce and the Georgia Hispanic Contractor Association.
