Hi Lisa, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My husband, Steve, and I have been Disney enthusiasts since our days working at Walt Disney World back in the 90s—we simply drank every drop of the Disney Kool-Aid! Fast forward to 2010, our very first Disney Cruise with our two girls ignited a spark. Meeting a travel agent specialized in Disney destinations onboard planted a seed: why not turn our passion for helping friends plan magical Disney getaways into a career? What started as a dreamy “maybe someday” became real when, just five days later, Steve launched our very own travel agency website—Pixie Vacations—and within days, our first client lead came through!

Our journey took off quickly. Bookings poured in, and others eager to share the magic joined us. From the beginning, we focused on creating authentic, memorable experiences rather than just booking trips. Over time, our offerings expanded beyond Disney to include Universal Orlando Resort, Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, Sandals & Beaches Resorts, and so much more—giving us firsthand insight into countless destinations worldwide.

Today, Pixie Vacations is home to over 160 advisors, spanning continents and cultures, with connections to over one hundred suppliers. What truly sets us apart is our commitment to personalizing every vacation to fit the unique dreams and needs of our clients. We grow and adapt alongside our clients, embracing new destinations and experiences so we can continue helping families create unforgettable memories. Being part of this adventure is a joy—and I’m thrilled to help bring a little Pixie magic into every journey we craft.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting Pixie Vacations in 2010 was definitely an exciting adventure, but it wasn’t always smooth sailing. Like any new business, we faced challenges—from figuring out the ins and outs of the travel industry to building trust with clients and growing our team. There were moments of uncertainty and plenty of learning curves. The journey became especially rocky during the COVID19 pandemic, when travel came to a near halt and uncertainty gripped the entire industry. That period tested our resilience and creativity as we adapted to changing circumstances, supported our clients through cancellations and rescheduling, and looked for new ways to inspire travel dreams despite the challenges. Through it all, our passion for creating magical travel experiences kept us motivated. Each challenge became an opportunity to grow stronger and smarter. Looking back, the journey has been incredibly rewarding, and the bumps along the way have shaped Pixie Vacations into the vibrant and trusted agency we are today.

Most people who know me or our work with Pixie Vacations might be surprised to learn just how deeply personal our journey is. Beyond the business side, this isn’t just a job for us – it’s a family passion rooted in our own experiences and adventures, especially with Disney. What many might not realize is that it all began from a simple, spontaneous moment on a Disney Cruise that sparked a dream. And even more surprising? How quickly that dream transformed from a casual idea into a thriving travel agency, built entirely around sharing the magic we’ve lived ourselves.

In fact, Pixie Vacations grew so quickly, that within about a year and a half to two years, I had to take off my travel agent hat and focus all my attention on running the company fulltime. It was a big shift, but it allowed me to nurture and grow the agency into the vibrant community it is today. It’s a blend of heartfelt love for travel and a genuine desire to make others’ vacations as magical as ours – something not everyone sees until they get to know the “why” behind Pixie Vacations.
