Today we’d like to introduce you to Sonia Milagros Claudio.
Hi Sonia, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I took a leap of faith into comedy at 49 year old, and it’s been an incredible journey. I now produce and host my own shows and with my signature style being “Spanglish” — a blend of Spanish and English humor. Every show attracts a diverse crowd, which keeps things fresh and exciting. It’s been a rewarding experience to see how my passion for comedy has evolved and how I’ve built a community through laughter.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
“Yes, the journey hasn’t always been smooth, but every obstacle has taught me something valuable. As a bilingual comedian, I’ve faced my share of struggles, but I believe that laughter is the best medicine. My goal is to create a platform where everyone can feel free to laugh, regardless of their language Nothing I’ve encountered has been too much to handle because my focus is on making my dream come true and spreading joy.”
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a passionate dental coordinator and dental assistant dedicated to helping my patients achieve their best oral health. Originally from Puerto Rico, I now call Atlanta, Georgia home, but I grew up in the Bronx after moving there at age 10. That experience really shaped my multicultural perspective and love for diverse communities.
Outside of dentistry, I stay involved with Flowery Branch United Methodist Church Women’s of Faith, where we help out with KFC Kids after-school programs, organizing events and fundraising. I’m also a home cook Empanada are my specialty and enjoy sharing my humor as a bilingual stand-up comedian, host, and producer—because I truly believe laughter is the best medicine.
Most of everything I do if I bring can bring a smile to someone face that is a great win for me.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Over the next 5-10 years, I see myself expanding my comedy style worldwide. I aim to perform in major arenas and eventually host my own comedy club. I also envision having my own comedy show on TV. My goal is to bring laughter to as many people as possible, because I believe laughter is the best medicine. Despite any challenges I’ve faced along the way, I’m committed to making my dreams come true and creating a platform where everyone can share a laugh, no matter what world wide.
