Rising Stars: Meet Trish Ousman of Cumming, GA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Trish Ousman.

Trish, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started posting singing videos on TikTok back in 2019, and over time, a few of them began to gain real traction. People would comment on how much they loved my voice, and honestly, that was all the motivation I needed to keep going. Eventually, I began doing more and more TikTok lives, which is where I feel like I truly started gaining fans, not just viewers. It gave people the chance to connect with me in real time, ask questions, and get to know me beyond their for you page. That was a major turning point for me because it showed that I wasn’t just another face on their screen; I was someone they could form a real bond with. I eventually released my first original song, Psychopath, followed by With a Smile, and most recently, Love. The journey hasn’t always been easy, but it’s absolutely been worth it.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t always been the smoothest road, but for the most part, it’s not so bad. I think comparison is one of those things that takes a bigger toll on you than you’d like to admit. I was in a place where I would constantly compare myself to other people every day. It was always, “Did I look good enough?” “Was my voice good enough?” “Was I relatable enough?”, and the cycle just kept going and going until one day I thought, “This is pointless.” There’s already a Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, and Tate McRae in the world, but there’s not a Trish Ousman yet. That’s when my mindset started to shift. I began focusing more on myself and less on what others thought of me.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
By day, I’m a server, but my dream, and hopefully my full-time job soon, is to be a musician. I’ve been singing and writing songs since I was a little girl. It’s something that brings me the most joy. I’d love to be known as someone whose music uplifts or inspires people to share their own gifts, too. One thing I’m most proud of is believing in myself enough to post my singing videos online. As we all know, the internet can be a cruel place, but continuing to upload video after video, despite that, is something I genuinely take pride in. I always joke that I only write sad songs, but I think my ability to slow down even the most upbeat song and make it feel more personal is something that really sets me apart.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Being surrounded by my friends and family makes me the happiest. I also love the quiet moments where I get to relax and play my guitar. I think anything that allows me to interact and connect with people is one of those things that just gives me instant serotonin. I’m incredibly grateful to be surrounded by some of the most loving, caring, and motivated people I’ve ever met. Their support for what I do never gets old, and in many ways, it fuels my happiness and keeps me going.
