Check Out Nick Bryant’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nick Bryant, founder of Velvet City Sound.

Hi Nick, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started performing full-time back in 2014 when I graduated with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from College of Coastal Georgia (in Brunswick, GA). Eventually, I moved back up to Atlanta to continue cutting my teeth throughout the southeast, public and private events. Meanwhile, I was writing and producing my own demos and working on my MBA online at West Texas A&M University.

I was recruited to be the top band leader for a popular Atlanta wedding band performing at weddings nearly every week. Simultaneously, I was given the opportunity to help grow and manage the business behind the scenes alongside the owner, a sharp-minded and highly-educated (in business) musician friend. It was during this 4 year stretch that shaped my professional life: I earned my MBA and ultimately started Velvet City Sound. We’re an Atlanta-based party band / wedding band performing over 100+ weddings and corporate events annually. We’ve grown so much since our start in 2022 and have recruited some of the coolest people/musicians in the area. It’s been such a positive experience all around, on and offstage, serving our wedding couples and corporate event planners, events big and small, from Mobile, AL to Key West, FL to Charleston, SC and over to Dallas, TX. I can’t stress enough how awesome our musicians are and how rewarding it is to see such incredible talent rise up to the occasion and grow on and offstage.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No true journey to success is a smooth road, but it has been smooth in the sense that our team continues to crush each and every event. We’re in the people business, we as in you, me, our readers, and most every business, whether you know if or not! Since our passion and focus is on our customers it definitely makes the road smooth if you want to put it that way. Also, from a marketing/branding standpoint, it has been a fun journey to be able to truly identify and most importantly communicate what makes Velvet City Sound unique and different. Although we are not the first to do what we do, we know who we are, what we stand for, and what we bring to the table.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Velvet City Sound is a tight-knit group of musicians and music lovers that share a passion of not only performing, but bringing out the best in every event, musically and otherwise! We’re known for our customer service, our care for our customers, the ease of planning, our reasonable pricing, our “Breath of fresh air” partnerships with planners, our flexibility (musically and otherwise), and overall fun factor! It’s quite easy to stand out as the obvious choice for a “Live band”. Again, our number one focus is the customer. Playing music is easy, setting up a PA and some lights is easy, posting on social media is easy, etc. What is NOT easy is walking the walk: To say you are customer focused and actually BEING customer focused. Then, the music, the energy, then production, the commitment, the performance, each note, email, etc. flow effortlessly. You can’t be proud of your gifts as they are given to you. You CAN be proud of your effort, energy, focus, care, and ability to put your best foot forward in everything you do. THAT you can be proud of.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Maybe happiness is the ability to enjoy what life has to offer. Maybe it involves participating in the creation of it rather than simply expecting it. Maybe it’s more than just feeling good. Maybe it’s the feeling of accomplishment. Either way, when I think of happiness, I think of my wife, family, friends, music, songwriting, guitars, and of course caffeine!
