Meet Kayla Heard of Experience Elegance Event Planning

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kayla Heard.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Event planning started as a hobby that blossomed into a passion. Friends and family always left me frazzled when they would arrive late or waited until the last minute to plan their events and celebrations. I then took it upon myself to relieve my anxiety and began to take matters into my own hands.

Upon turning 21, I wanted to do something productive and decided to turn those bossy comments into gold. I decided that for 21 I wanted to gift myself with something more than a hangover, so I created Experience Elegance Event Planning, LLC.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has been far from smooth. Some of my biggest obstacles included identifying my brand and clientele as well as financial stumbling blocks. I started off taking every client until one day an event was completely left field. I then vowed to myself that all money wasn’t worth risking my brand furthering me to distinctively identifying my demographic.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Experience Elegance Event Planning – what should we know?
Experience Elegance is a full-service event planning company. Our niche is logistics. I have a thing for staying on schedule and tardiness is one of my pet peeves. It literally drives me crazy so I like to ensure that my clients and their guests time isn’t being wasted.

One of my proudest moments for my company would be creating a full wedding and reception for a client’s video shoot in less than 2 weeks. Talk about pressure for my first big production but I enjoyed the challenge and was able to pull it out off without a hitch. One thing that sets my company apart is the experience.

Ensuring that the event is on schedule at all times is experiencing elegance. Executing an event within whatever time frame and still managing to make sure everything is on point with the logistics.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
The experience of failures. Not allowing my degree to put me in the box of knowing it all. Staying on top of the latest trends and being willing to continuing to learn new things from the industry as a whole.

  • $500 and up for all social events
  • $1500 and up for all weddings and conferences
  • $50/ hr for a day of coordination
