Beoncia Dunn of Atlanta on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Beoncia Dunn. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Beoncia, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What makes you lose track of time—and find yourself again?
Art + Design in whatever medium I feel led to flow in – Photography + Design + Painting + Dying + Singing +
Writing + Poetry + Film.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am a Fine Artist from Atlanta, Georgia. I love to curate art that makes you feel. However, what you feel from my work is up to your own interpretation. My personal experiences have been a bold mix of both African American + West Indian Culture that deeply impacts my StoryTelling. I am who I am because of My Mother, a Southern Woman + Style Icon who nurtured me straight out of the womb, and My Father, a Multi Hyphenated Creative from Trinidad. I am a vessel. As an artist, my work is meant to uplift and impact my people to continue to press forward + upward. No matter how long or hard the journey, what is meant for You will always find You.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
Traveling has really shaped how I see the World. Ever since I left Home to explore and experience new places it changed, elevated, and refined Me. My friends Mario Miller & Christa Smith refer to me as the “Digital Nomad” of our Framily. Always finding creative ways to balance capturing our Beautiful Moments while also being present for Our Shared Experiences.

Grateful for having Georgia as my Foundation. Georgia is Home and will always be the heartbeat of my Journey. Therefore, Traveling has become the Frame for my Fine Art Photography. I am an Explorer and I feel so alive when I am able to See the World; truly.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
For 20 Years I experienced BurnOut. It felt like Life would not take its Foot off of the Gas ! By 2018, I cried out to God to give Me a Season of Rest and Reset. I was Exhausted, but God had other plans for Me. He was elevating Me in all the ways I dreamed of, but how was I going to pull myself together ? I had to fully rely on God for the strength and willpower to press forward Day by Day.

By 2022, I was running on fumes. I started declaring that I didn’t want to be a Stylist anymore. Having nothing left, I asked God once again to give Me a Season of Rest and Reset.

God gifted Me just that. Summer of 2023, I was finally heading Home. I knew I wasn’t there to stay, but I knew I needed to make Home my new Base. To somehow prepare Myself for a Life of Travel, Exploration and Documenting My Experiences through Photography.

I purged almost everything I owned, at the time, and I only took My ArtWorks. My brother Chad Lupoe and I took Our first Road Trip together. I pulled out My Camera and I utilized that Experince to Capture Our Journey and all of the Beautiful Beings in it from West to East.

Once I reached home, jobs were still coming in slowly. But, by Spring of 2024 everything came to a pause. My life in Fine Art began while my life in Fashion was coming to an end. My Season of Work as a Stylist died. I had no money, no leads and I barely had a place to stay. All I could do was walk and talk to God everyday. My Season of Stillness left Me Hungry, Broken, Weary and I felt Forgotten by My Peers.

During Summer of 2024, I walked almost 17 miles a Day. Sounds insane, but it awarded Me time with God, Nature and Clarity in the Prophetic. I surrendered and finally embraced that Season I had been begging for — Rest. God had to strip everything away from Me so I could take my Rest serious. My Time spent at Home for 2 Years was well spent whether I was fond of it or not.

God brought Me Home for a Reason. He had to snatch Me out of My familiarity. I was moving like a Machine and I needed to Shut Down My System to Rest — then ReSet when Me He was ready for Me to get back to work.

Currently, Summer 2025, I am a Fine Artist, exploring the Art of StoryTelling through Writing, Photography, Design, Film, Style and Music. I am grateful to God for true Rest, ReStoration and ReBirth — Now it’s Time to ReBuild and Continue the Work.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Always staying Present when Spending Time Together and Showing Up For EachOther; even if We only have the capacity to be a Sounding Board.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What will you regret not doing?
Putting in Time to explore MySelf as a Music Artist. I am an awarded Vocalist with Performance and Studio Experience, but I have been shelving my Singing to the BackGround. I am working on changing that.
