Hi Tonya, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my journey in healthcare more than 25 years ago, building a career rooted in compassion, knowledge, and excellence. My early years were spent as a Critical Care and Emergency Room nurse, where I cared for some of the most vulnerable patients and developed a deep appreciation for the human body’s resilience. I eventually applied to anesthesia school and have now been a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist for almost 15 years, providing safe, effective care for both children and adults.
But while my career was thriving, something more personal was unfolding at home.
A Personal Mission Becomes a Professional Calling
My father, a Vietnam War veteran, battled PTSD and chronic pain for years. As his daughter, and as a healthcare provider, I watched him suffer and wanted desperately to help him feel better, to have more good days than bad. Through research and continuing education, I learned that dehydration and nutritional deficiencies often made his symptoms worse.
At the time, IV hydration lounges were not common in our area, the nearest one was almost two hours away. That planted a seed in my mind: What if I could bring these services to my father and others like him right here in our local community?
Unfortunately, my father passed away in December 2020, just months before the launch of ASTRE Wellness. His memory fuels my mission every single day. Opening the doors to ASTRE Wellness in early 2021 was not just the start of a business; it was the beginning of a legacy of health, healing, and hope for others.
The Meaning Behind ASTRE
The name ASTRE, meaning “star,” represents guidance and navigation. Just as sailors and slaves once used stars to find their way, ASTRE Wellness was created to guide people to better health, vitality, and well-being, helping them look and feel their best from the inside out. At our core, we believe in preventing sick care by promoting well care, addressing root causes, supporting whole-body health, and empowering our clients to thrive rather than simply survive.
From a Small IV Lounge to a Premier Wellness Destination
When we first opened, ASTRE Wellness specialized in IV hydration therapy, vitamin boosters, and wellness coaching, all designed to help clients recover from fatigue, stress, illness, and everyday life.
But as demand grew, so did our vision.
By October 2024, we had expanded into a brand-new, state-of-the-art location at 300 Northside Crossing in Macon, GA. This beautiful space reflects the luxury, comfort, and tranquility I always envisioned for ASTRE Wellness. More importantly, it allowed us to add a full spectrum of services to truly meet the needs of our clients.
Today, ASTRE Wellness offers:

This transformation has turned ASTRE Wellness into Macon’s premier luxury wellness spa, a place where science, medicine, and self-care come together under one roof.
A Vision for the Future
What started as a daughter’s mission to help her father has become a thriving wellness center serving the entire Middle Georgia community. My goal is to continue expanding our programs, reaching more people, and staying on the cutting edge of functional medicine, anti-aging therapies, and holistic wellness.
At ASTRE Wellness, we don’t just treat symptoms; we empower our clients to take control of their health, energy, and longevity so they can live the vibrant, fulfilled lives they deserve.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
• Funding and Expansion: Growing from a 650-sq-ft space to a 3,000-sq-ft flagship location required navigating banks, loan boards, and city regulations. Convincing lenders to believe in my vision for a luxury wellness spa in Macon was not always easy.
• Balancing Healthcare and Business: As a clinician, my heart has always been in patient care. But running a business meant learning marketing metrics, payroll systems, and contract negotiations. That was a steep learning curve.
• Vendor and Technology Challenges: There were times when vendors didn’t deliver as promised or software systems created more headaches than solutions. Those moments taught me the importance of resilience, documentation, and having a solid team behind me.
• Marketing and Brand Awareness: Educating the community about functional medicine, hormone optimization, and preventative wellness wasn’t easy at first. People are used to traditional medicine, so showing them how we can help them feel better BEFORE they get sick required persistence and creativity.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Something surprising about me is that, despite running a luxury wellness brand, I’m actually a total tomboy at heart! Most people assume I’m super “prissy,” but I absolutely love being outdoors. I get excited about fishing trips, and I also love to cut our grass on my zero-turn mower, It’s my therapy. Honestly, I wish I knew how to hunt! It always surprises people to learn that I’m just as happy in jeans and boots outside as I am in a cute little dress.
