Timothy Richards shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Timothy , a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What battle are you avoiding?
The battle I’m avoiding is procrastination. I’ll sometimes push things off until the last minute, even when I know getting started earlier would make life easier. I’m working on being more intentional about tackling tasks head on instead of waiting until the last minute and now I feel like I’m rushing a project
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Timothy Richards, and I’m the founder of Rich Studios, a clothing brand built around the mission of saving and reimagining denim. Since 2019, I’ve been transforming thrifted and vintage materials into one of a kind pieces, blending elements of sports, Boy Scout heritage, and street culture to tell stories through clothing.
What makes Rich Studios unique is that it’s not just about fashion, it’s about community, creativity, and sustainability. I started this brand with little more than passion and determination, working long nights and teaching myself everything from sewing to marketing. Over the years, Rich Studios has grown into a brand that connects with people who value originality, storytelling, and quality.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
My earliest memory was when I started to play youth sports and seeing how athletic I actually was compared to other kids. Not to sound like anyone was beneath me but it definitely felt good knowing and proving that you’re better than the next kid in a competitive nature of course
What’s something you changed your mind about after failing hard?
One thing I changed my mind about was the idea that hard work alone guarantees success. I used to think if I just pushed myself enough working late nights and grinding nonstop the results would automatically come. But after failing a few drops that didn’t perform how I expected, I realized effort has to be paired with strategy, patience, and adaptability. Now, I see failure as part of the process it forces me to adjust, think smarter, and keep building with a clearer mindset.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
I would like to think so based off the energy my peers have towards me. I’m a big believer in being your authentic self because people can tell when you’re not being genuine. I wanna be the best example to people that’s it’s ok to be yourself and not just a watered down version
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I would stop working altogether to just enjoy life and traveling the world
