Meet Clive Morrison of CMJ Business Solutions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Clive Morrison.

Hi Clive , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started my first business out of necessity, not inspiration. I was tired of working hard with little control over my time or impact, so I built a cleaning company from the ground up. What began as a few local clients grew into a systemized operation, and that experience taught me how structure and accountability turn chaos into freedom.

Over time, I realized my real passion was helping others do the same—especially Black men in business. I saw too many of us hustling alone, burning out, or struggling to scale because we lacked systems and support. That’s how The Black Businessman community was born: a space to stay accountable, build strong networks, and grow businesses that serve both family and community.

Today, focused on helping entrepreneurs streamline operations and reclaim their purpose. My mission hasn’t changed—create order, build legacy, and empower others to lead with clarity and impact.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it definitely hasn’t been smooth. I’ve faced the same challenges most entrepreneurs do—learning how to lead, manage people, and stay consistent when results aren’t immediate. Early on, I tried to do everything myself, which led to burnout and chaos. I had to unlearn the idea that hard work alone equals success and start building systems that allowed others to win with me. As a Black man in business, I’ve also had to navigate bias and limited access to resources, but those obstacles sharpened my focus. They taught me resilience, discipline, and how to turn struggle into structure.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I run CMJ Business Solutions, where we help entrepreneurs systemize and structure their businesses so they can grow the right way—without burning themselves out in the process. Our focus is on building operations that support both the owner and the mission, not just the bottom line.

Alongside that, I lead The Black Businessman, a coaching and accountability community for Black men in business. It’s a space where we sharpen each other—building businesses that create impact in our families, neighborhoods, and communities. Together, we’re changing what leadership and legacy look like for Black men in business.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory is spending time with my parents in their restaurant, The Waterfront in New York. They were both entrepreneurs, and being around them taught me what ownership, service, and community look like. I’d watch them host parties, cook, and connect with people through food—it was more than business; it was impact. Those early lessons shaped how I see entrepreneurship today: creating something that brings people together, provides opportunity, and leaves a mark
